Asmo: rude. I don't usually help homeless people. I rarely have anything to give them, and I don't think anything I could spare from my bag would be of much help. I saw an article online about making small "essentials" bags to hand out to the homeless, including what would be useful to them and what would not. I found that idea intriguing, but haven't taken any action to do so.
Preaching to the choir here, baby! We all know it. But we can't say it... damn PC police. There's a whole species that is being antisocial and we are shunned simply for stating the truth.
Yeah I'm pretty sure you'd never see a cat with a homeless person, they aren't known for their loyalty. Now that winter's upon us I've bought a 40 pair bulk pack of hand warmers to give out to homeless people, seemed a good idea.
Impellers are similar to propellers and are usually found in a pump of some sort. I think the OP was thinking of the word compel...that which makes one do something. This is an axiom: No good deed goes unpunished. Repeat, No good deed goes unpunished! I find myself wondering just what misfortune is about to befall me when I do a good deed. What compels me to do good deeeds? Greatfulness. Being greatful for what I have and for how life is going. Even a part time job is more than no job at all. The full time job being a greater blessing. I listen to my gut. There are times when I pass on helping strangers as there are sometimes a greater risk than what is immediately seen. It's situational for me. A lady who reminded me of my mother once asked me to change her flat tire in a mall parking lot...I did it. Hungry people have asked me for food...I have provided. A lost young man on a very dark road once asked me how to get back to civilization...I led him home (that was scary as the initial contact could have been a car jacking/robbery). I have driven injured people to safety. Hi Yo Silver! Away!!! Silence of the Lambs...can you help me get this couch into my van? Be careful, very careful!
No. My intention was to use the word impel, not compel. It's use is correct. Compel would work to if a person wanted to use it.
I have to admit I only give money to people on the street if they are aboriginal Everyone else, get a job ya bum, this is Australia Plus I bet, and you'll notice they are mostly guys, most of the time, if you knew their back story, how did they get there, how did they get abandoned by their family: wife beater, selfish drunk, kiddy fiddler even, you wouldnt give them money
I think what motivates me to help a stranger is if I'm in a good mood and in a position to do some giving.
If I have money on me to help a stranger, I do. Sadly, I think it's easier sometimes to help a stranger, than say it is to forgive someone close to you, in your family or a friend. Helping strangers seems to come a lot easier for most people.
