cynicism is overrated, it is generally an attempt at humor... much like teasing classmates, the best pushers tend to get alot of attention. so if you are rewarded, in true alpha fashion, for pushing and being a cynic, why not? well it has to do with not being true to yourself, not seeing others as equals and drawing to yourself those of like mind. as soon as you find yourself down it will be an opportunity for those, who wish to be like you, to start challenging and breaking you down further.... anyway we see what we will, if one looks for facets of negativity they can be found... yet this thread contains conversations where you have been true to yourself; in fact, all who have commented were doing the same, whether it be from a more serious intellectual point of view or from a button pressing just having fun watching another react perspective. I'm sure you have been on the other side of the fence, our own learning process casts a compassionate light on where we have been. The lunar pull effects us all. Shanti
Locate the primitive in their formal disguises A mixture of the grotesque and the banal Cynicism is the cloak of the frightened sloth.
'Cynicism (Greek: Kυνισμό was originally the philosophy of a group of ancient Greeks called the Cynics, founded by Antisthenes. The Cynics rejected all conventions, whether of religion, manners, housing, dress, or decency, advocating the pursuit of virtue in a simple and unmaterialistic lifestyle. Currently, the word 'cynicism' generally describes the opinions of those who maintain that self-interest is the primary motive of human behaviour, and are disinclined to rely upon sincerity, human virtue, or altruism as motivations.' When one embraces, Sunyata, or Nothingness it is great for removing filters... often before one finds their secret heart they are lost in the Great Sea of Emptiness, feeling all is futile.... I've found the trick is finding the sparkles in the void, for in it shines the the fertile ground of unformed consciousness which truly is the foundation of Every-thing. How do we go beyond the 'river of not' and step onto 'the bridge of equality' without humility and compassion? I've perhaps added too much of my own perspective and apologize if it has detracted from your original intentions.
heh. that's so totally true. i'm full on hormonal right now, and fighting a fight that doesn't need me. pfft.
Hahaa my intent wasnt to be petty or attacking anyone. But come on now. I felt like I was reading some kind of tribute or eulogy. Its like you keep telling us how great he is, but I dont see it. So we're supposed to just say oh yeah what a great spirit that rubin is. Based on your testimony alone when he is constantly going in threads just to talk shit, bash people, ideas, and cultures.. all while raising himself on his own pedestal and claiming god like status in the world? Im the type of person that gives most everyone the benefit of the doubt. Even after being fucked over by humans a lot in my life. But when someone is being consistently nasty and mean spirited, and then their friends back that up, I'll only overlook so much. But at least in this situation Im the pot. And Im calling the kettle green.
No grudges here either. And loyalty is never a bad thing, thats actually one of the most important qualities to me. But at the same time I think you can be very loyal to a person without reinforcing negative behavior or attitudes.
Awww. Does the poor whittle baby have hurt feelings? You don't even know what you're complaining about. "Pavel is making personal attacks against me. He's been harassing me for years." "KC is defending him blindly. They're all a clique." "Spooner and Seamonster are being cynical." There is no logical complaint. You sound like a whiny little child having a tantrum because not everybody thought his thread was cool. I've seen 12 year old girls with thicker skin, and overweight acne-prone teenage boys that were less self-concious. . And I'm not a cynic. I've been studying a long time because I think I can make Canada a better place. I genuinely want to help Canadians. I just think misguided goodwill isn't any better pre-thought out evil. The optimism of European missionaries didn't make small pox any easier for Natives to survive. It took a lot of courage to say this, too. Your threats of utter humiliation on an internet forum were very, very scary. Seriously, mang, that is like one step above threating to kick my ass. You must be so much mentally above every single person here that we should all flee in terror at the very thought of your massive, towering intellect.

You have typically displayed the attitude of Rubin throughout most your existence here. And this post is just one more example of that. You obviously didn't read correctly either. I never said KC was in a clique, that was my friend "Deviate." That is his opinion and his right. You also have the right to free speech as anyone else, I am happy that you making Canada a better place. You deserve to be commended. But, you have also increasingly have had negative vibes in HipForums to counter that. Everytime I or someone else makes a statement about peace (etc), someone like you and your ilk come along and mock them.
i am not really cynic. I just thought your original post was in a sense pointless, as it was more or less a collection of catch phrases that offered nothing on how to actually make anything better...and that you are actually one of the most argumentative and ego centric person here. Now I am going to go outside and enjoy my day, because as the world is not so bad that people can still enjoy it. A lot of your points don't really resound with me, because I know a lot of great people and peple that don't have the attitudes that you seem to think almost everyone does. I am actually quite an optimist. I suggest growing up and stop being such a whiny baby, finding the good in the world and latching onto that might help...i don't know, maybe volunteer for a charity or something..or make 70 more threads in love and sex about fucking peoples wives, felching, etc
LOL! What's the matter, seamonster? Can't explore your thoughts without putting down others? Why don't you and spooner and Rubin continue to use the same lines. "Awww...grow up", "whiny baby", etc. etc. You have all jumped my ass since you've been here (or since I've been) for reasons I don't not know. I've been here a long time and at the beginning it was "Libertine is an asshole", "Libertine is an arrogant bastard", so I come back with peaceful sentiments and now it is "Libertine is a whiner" and "Libertine needs to grow up." I couldn't make friends with you guys no matter what! The truth is that I have grown more in the past two years and then the three of you combined and it is evident in our words. Thank you for MORE INSULTS, guys! Show everyone how grown-up YOU all are! Keep it up. It won't be long before you reap what you sow.
Im about to contribute possibly a greater cliche than mob douchebagism, but hey its what comes to mind when reading the original post. Its too bad that simple messages like this are lost in our generation http://youtube.com/watch?v=jEOkxRLzBf0
what if everyone realized and understood, that few, if any of them, were ever going to get anything out of attempting to make everything have to begin and end with little green pieces of paper? what if, you could build whatever you felt like, anyplace that wasn't illogical to do so? (as private ownership of the land forces nearly everyone, even governments themselves, to do) what if, there were no such things as national boundries? or mulit-bioregeonal political entities imposing idiological monoculturs? i LOVE the gibran quote btw! the one on architecture from the same book; "the prophet" is another of my favorites. that one on children is something every parent should write, (figuratively of course) on the inside of their eyelids! i also like his one on religeon too. (that whole book actually). "and the people said: "almustafa, speak to us of ...", and he answered them saying "..."". what if people realized, both at the same time, that there is no such thing as any hierarchy, in any form, that does not at some point directly conflict with reality, and that there is no such thing as thoughtlessness every being harmless? =^^= .../\...
Very surprised to see the reponses this "peaceful" thread has gotten. A bit mind provoking to say the least. I can't believe people are actually on hip forums with such hopeless and judgemental mentalities. You know nothing of "Libertine" or his sincerity obviously. I have been with him for 11 years, and in this time I have seen such a change in him, for the good no doubt. I've seen the change he wants to see in the world slowly manifest itself through him. One can not change over night nor can he change the world over night, but he can have a dream...he can try to share his dream and spread the message as so many have before and hope to find others who care just as much. Where's the fault in that? Where better to share this dream than on "hip forums" who knew that there were such angry and hopeless individuals lurking in these corners. So goes life, I suppose. Other's opinions are sure to manifest and those who post new threads should be certain that people will indeed throw their own opinions hard, but seeing a level of maturity would be nice. It's a shame that people judge so harshly, those they do not know.
Your right, my bad :nopity: Based on your initial post, I would like to select two worthy candidates for president!
