Well I can definitely understand your conviction, and why you feel the way you do. But a person can't logically believe every story about angels/demons/ghosts, they hear...especially when there could be perfectly good explanations for them. No matter how convinced the storyteller is of his experience.

For a funny example, the Simpsons episode where Ned (the religious one) builds a shrine to his dead wife over a gas leak, and everyone who prayed near her were sent into convulsions, speaking in tounges, etc....(I don't know if you watch the simpsons, but you should be able to see where I am coming from). They all thought they were being blessed by the angel of Ned's wife, but they were just getting doped up off the gas leak.

I have no doubt that your beliefs have helped you in your lifetime. Humans have taken so well to religion that there is no way I doubt that we don't have it in our culture for a reason. But there is no way for me I could logically believe and practice any religion, I would be faking it. I can't force my brain to believe in something. But that doesn't mean I don't take any moral values from it. I was raised baptist, attended a baptist school, and I think I am a better person for it. I don't think that I would have grown up with the same compassion, ethics, and values as I have had I been put through the public school system.

I went to a Baptist minister for help back then, and he told me there was nothing he could do for me. That is when I found out that there is a big difference between religion and Christianity. The people who did help me were not big in the church, yet they knew Christ and understood his power. They were real christians. And what we all experienced that day has a perfectely good explanation, and it has nothing to do with gas leaks.

There are some very evil men who believe they will go to heaven. Do you believe mass murders are then rewarded for their evil lives, because they believe they should go heaven?

I think that future-science will discover the answers to such questions in the future and therefore to get the answers we need longevity to take us into the future. I think that a fruitarian diet can enable the longevity we would need to get the answers from science in the future. Similarly, I think that an aeroplane can enable you to fly over the clouds, but if you or your neighbours or anyone else on the street designs and builds an aeroplane without first researching the subject adequately, then it would probably crash before then, and the same applies to a fruitarian diet.

i don't think animals think about it, and i think humans follow the same basic laws as animals....we probably don't need to worry about it. one thing...if chimpanzees don't go to an afterlife, then i don't think we do either. WHATEVER.
    much love in this life,
    brad

    that's one good answer

another one that occurs to me would be:

I read Who Killed My Daughter? and the whole thing was true. They mentioned reincarnation in there and that’s what makes me think we get reincarnated. That book is so unbelievably real. However one of the reasons I would never want to become something else is, I don’t want to see the world blow up in a few billion years.

everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die.

Being dead must be okay, everyone is dying to try it.

    there is no avoiding it.......

i think if you spend your whole life trying to find out, it won't be worth it in the end

    BUT

    BUUUT...

what makes christians any better any other "religion"? i mean- what the hell> you always say "well, the bible says....:- dude!- there are MANY more holy books... what if YOU are wrong? what if all humans have to PICK the truth and if they are wrong... sorry mon- you burn in hell.

well, i cant and WONT believe in a god like that. my god isnt like that. and you know what.. my god is gonna be the one carrying me to the next world- no matter what that is.

as for what i PERSONALLY believe.. and ive studied a lot but i will never be an expert...

but ive read, studied, mediation, did lucid dreaming, dissociatted myself, read diff. religious texts- athiests texts, etc.- ive been interested in this for so long...

after all of this- i believe there is "another life"- i think reincarnation is real, altho i do not know but in the end.. i think we create our own reality...

think about your dreams... how you feel when you're alone... can you mediate and dissociatte?

    that is preparing.

it's gonna be dark and scary but what ever your mind has in it's will will pull you through when you die.

the best thing to do now is prepare- and not by believing in some fake saviour- (like i told jesusdied4you- i love jesus-i do.. he was a great PROPHET... he isnt my saviour.)- by preparing, i mean, preparing your soul and spirit and getting it used to be alone and in tune to itself

and it's ignorant for anyone to say he's the only way.

Thats a lot like what it says in the Tibetan book of the dead.
It is kind of exciting, since exactly what will happen is so unpredictable.
What if it really is like Christians say...I will be roasted in that case.
I like to think that my spirit will go on to another life, and keep on learning whatever I need to learn. And my new life will depend on what I do or don't learn in this go round.
I think that my heart will be more important than my mind, though.

the afterlife is real. but any "loving god" will not allow "his" children to "burn in hell" cause you didnt PICK the right religion.. that is bullshit... i dont care what the bible or the koran or other says. i grew up going to a methodist church every sunday until i was eighteen... i realized, the fear that that fundamentalist religion teaches (as do many)- is not what i choose to believe.

the god i have is inside of me and as i do believe the afterlife is real... i cant believe in teachings that are so hateful. actually, i came to see the bible as a metaphor..that's why i do love jesus and think all religions have teachings.. i just dont them literally cause they are not meant to be.

i believe in reincarnation- although i cant say all of us will EVER be reincarnated.. .there is so much out there. when it all comes down to it... "life" is about learning and who is to say when life ends.. we are just human.. we are here and although intuitivally we might KNOW, we really dont... when it's over- it's over... but it's a big world.

we create our OWN reality. i truly believe when it all comes down to it... it's your subconscious creating "your world"- and that could very well be the christian heaven and hell...

Ya, I was 11 when I decided Satan and hell were B.S.

All I know is that there is much more for me to learn.
