if your car is parked on their lot, you probably signed some waiver when you got your parking pass. when you're at school, you're at a government institution, and they rule all. It's fully legal. It's their locker, and their parking lot: not yours.
Basically, in most countries, minors have no rights. You're considered property of your parents until you're 18. You're parents could (and should) complain, but really, besides sloppily re-arranging your pencils, what harm did they do? Your personal space was violated; you're pissed and have every right to be, but pick your battles. If I were you, I'd write a few letters to school admin downtown, and then write each member of the school board, and if they don't respond in what you consider an appropiate manner, when election-time rolls around campaign tirelessly for the opposition.
Even if you park in the street my school still tried to claim authority. They've gotten word of a party and crashed it before, making everyone call their parents or some crap like that. Overstepping their boundries is nothing new to these people, at least in the catholic school systems...
I am in a paralegal certification course (almost done) but when I took my contracts class my teacher (an attorney AND state judge) she said that if you dont agree with a contract to put it in a typewriter or write in small letters on the part that you dont agree with and state that you do not agree with it and that you are signing the contract under durress......then sign the contract and if the issue ever comes up in court....then there you go......its not your fault that they didnt look over the contract well enough themselves after you signed it.....anyways that is what i plan to do if that ever comes up for me.
also I would initial next to whatever you write/type and make sure its in pen......also if you do that i wouldnt throw that in the schools face when they try to search you....what i would do is state loudly that you do not consent to the search and then go get legal council and sue them (some lawyers will do this on a contingency basis where they take 1/3 of your winnings) and bring that up in court....then I would imagine that you would basically have them pinned down and kissing their own asses goodbye.
I personaly called all district board members, explained the situation, and told them I felt my rights were violated, and several of them seemed to agree with me, one even apologized. The more I look, there is nothing I can do, other than voice that I feel my rights were violated.
the us constitution is kind of fundamentaly flawed though, and realy was not designed for as large scale of a country as we have become... still the shit pisses me off.
a larger scale country which we have become, has many more viewpoints. As in when the constitution was first drafted, there were alot less opposing view points. No one would have disagreed then that private citizens needed the right to own firearms in case the british ever came back. You have rights until they cross into someone elses rights, such as safety. I have a gun, you feel unsafe... we have a conflict.
Its not the size of the country. Its the speed of transportation. Transportion has advanced so that things that happen further away have a greater effect here. Thus, I can affect more people. Thus they have more intrest in what I do. Tech. has made it so that a whole lot of people whose actions could be considered "local." I may never see those people, but their actions affect my locale as much as my neighbor's actions.
And to mention that we are extremely diverse, when I say diverse I don't even meen by race, im talking about opinions, and viewpoints. Even from state to state people think and act differently, thus it is harder to have laws that apply appropriately to all.
