Let's say 85% of the new U.S. psych bands like Midnight Movies (L.A.) or Love Me Nots...that sort of thing ...if you dig psych music of course! ...or even Mazzy Star for that!
I love psychedelic bands, but I wasn't really into these. Thanks for the suggestions though. Love peace, Katie
Endless Boogie - Had me thinking for a moment. I was thinking did they name themselves after a Canned Heat album. I looked it up and I was wrong it was John Lee Hooker. But it was pretty cool to read that Canned Heat was a big Influence on them. Earthless- This is some really good stuff. I like this band as much as I like Hawkwind. I was really excited to see they covered the Groundhogs "Cherry Red", another band I love. Thank you! These guys can really rock. Tia Carrera- Was watching them on YouTube. They jam pretty fucking good. Asmodean, you just made my day. Thank you! Love peace, Katie :cheers2:
Here's some vids of the bands: Mazzy Star https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiEouyRrWII Midnight Movies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ds2xMbm9es
Yay! I like your taste, Hawkwind and their influence on those heavy psychedelic rock bands is some of the coolest things in music  Just like blues rockin' boogie jams! :cheers2:
I was saying the same type thing to my mom one day. She told me that it was a sign of getting old when you can't stand the current generation's music. I was just doing it early. Of course, she raised me on "oldies".
Oldies or whatever as long as it's none of that wimpy disco-duck style music........ponder peeps ponder!!
What happened to music? It died. No matter what anyone says, that's what happened. End of story. And don't think it's coming back, it's not, it won't, ever, and this is coming from a die-hard music fan who loves The Beatles, The Doors, The Dead, Zeppelin, Dylan, CCR, CSN, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Band, etc.
There's plenty of good music out there now, I like the new age rock cause of the anger in it, fits my personality well, like System of a Down, and the way the speak outa gainst the government. Now in my book some of the best bands of all time are, Zeppelin, Floyd, the Dead, Metallica, Sabbath, Rammstien, and SOAD (system of a down)
SOAD sucks. I hate Metallica (though I don't deny they're immensely talented) and Ramstein. But as for Zep Floyd and Dead right on.
As long as there's people like Marylin Manson (luv him or hate him...whatever), music as an art will NEVER DIE...NEVER. Let's remember the horrified faces of adults in the 50s when Elvis's pelvis hit the scene.....but that "move" revitalized music for eons to come. History repeating I guess. Just open your eyes, dump that shitty disco trash and you'll find VERY GOOD NEW music out there....don't be scared to LOOK
I rather have a good tune than artsyfartsy musicians that just want to shock the squares. Difference between Elvis and MM is that Elvis could do both. I agree with this. You really have to look for new good stuff, but it's worth it because it's really there. If you dig shitty disco trash it's alright too of course. But don't put today's music down if you're stuck in the sound of the sixties and base your statement on the nu-metal, indie rock and pop music on the main channels because it's not the only thing in music that's doing well.
Methinx you're a bit stuck in the 50s yourself there with Elvis.....don't get me wrong, he rocked the scene and to be sincere, MM would not have been here if it weren't for the Pelvis
Of course it isn't OK.....I thought we were talkin' .bout GOOD music...don't mix true shit with pure chocolate...pls, Y.M.C.A. , my ass
I'm the same. i grew up listening to my dad's rock music. so of course i listen to stuff liek led zeppelin and floyd, but also other various bands like foghat, aerosmith, jimi hendrix. But of course, my heart lives for Motley Crue. But I still have an open mind for todays music. i'm starting to get into rise against. some dont like them, but i'm getting sick and tired of all the "ohemgee my girlfirend dumped me now i'm going to kill myself" and the "bitchezzz and hoezzz in da club yo!"
Uhm dude, I only used Elvis as an example because you compared his pelvis with MM's shocking in that post before me. Hope you're kidding about being stuck in the 50's. I'm not even an Elvis fan, although I dig some of his stuff. So we should blame Elvis for the presence of Marilyn Manson
Well, let's say we should "blame" (pun) lots more than just Elvis.......say, Little Richard and Screamin' Jay Hawkins...just to name a few .......as Eric Bloom sings: "Rock'n'roll damaged me but I love IT" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screamin'_Jay_Hawkins#Albums
