    There are.

And exactly WHAT about the post you are attacking is "spam"? A link that you don't happen to like?

It isn't a link to a commercial site, it isn't crossposted in off-topic forums, and that is the ONLY post the poster placed it in. It doesn't meet ANY definition of "spamming" that I am familiar with.

Now your placing your AIM and ICQ crap in your .sig (eating up bandwidth with every post) rather than in your profile where they belong might begin to qualify...:)

Yeah, the ability to "kick ass" is MUCH more important than a decent standard of living for everybody, universal health care, or political freedom.....

It's not the government's job to give everyone a decent standard of living, that is up to the individual, with the government securing the freedoms and abilities for this to take place.

It is not society's or the government's job to GIVE you healthcare either.

And what part of "Promote the General Welfare" don't you understand?

No it is only in your opinion that this is not the job of society and government. As I’ve explained to you before there are and can be other viewpoints.
Jozak why do you still sprouting these libertarian slogans? I find it sad to think that someone of your obvious intelligence still holds on to these views.

I consider spam to be off-topic posting that dosen't in any way further the topic at hand.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the concept of a "joke." You see, a "joke" is when a person says something that is obviously not meant to be taken in a literal context or is said in a way that isn't serious. When I say "videogames kick ass" do I literally mean that videogames are capable of kung-fu techniques that literally kick ass? No, I don't. And when I say "cereal kicks ass" do I mean that cereal is capable of sprouting legs and kicking ass? No. Don't get your panties bunched up over a mundane comment.

Entering "spam definition" into google gives the following:

The post wasn't commercial, and it wasn't promoting products or services.

I understand that conservatives LOVE to redefine common words to fit their personal agendas, but when trying to communicate with others, the use of a common language is a BIG help. :)

Looks like you are fucking with definitions again. A "joke" implies something humorous, which your post wasn't. :)

Dude you've got to be fucking me. You're pulling out the political stereotypes over the defenition of "spam"? And where in the hell did you get that I was conservative? Fine then, how about "there should be rules against off-topic posting on the forum"? Happy? Is that good? Should I make all my posts moron-proof from now on so that people who take things too literally don't go off flaming others?

You're breakin my balls man. I know that you know what I'm trying to say, but since you insist on being an ass here's a dictionary.com defenition:

There ARE rules against off-topic posts. But the posted link was to a site concerned with political free expression in a thread dealing with free speech. Somehow, that doesn't seem off-topic, either.....

What part do you not understand? Since when does "promote" mean "give"?Should the government give out free food, cars, and haircuts as well?

True, it is my opinion, as you have yours, and I respect that. However, I am still waiting for Ellis to show me where in the U.S. Constitution it even hints that the government should give out free healthcare to everyone, regardless who has to pay for it and how much.

Well I come from a country without a written constitution but to me it would seem that what better way is there to promote the general welfare of a people than to give them free healthcare?

The problem with giving all Americans free healthcare is that it would bankrupt the government. With more and more money already being spent on social security (and much more to come with the baby boomer situation), we couldn't afford it. Not to mention that Americans are the most overweight, unhealthy, and stupidest bunch of people (I am American, so I'm allowed to say that), so free healthcare for Americans would cost a lot more per person that free healthcare for brits or Canadians.

I think that if the US made free healthcare a priority it could be done (to a reasonable extent). However it would be best to bring it in as part of a general healthcare policy.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head-

    People taught about nutrition.

    Free healthy school meals

Banning the advertising of unhealthy food.

A ‘fat’ tax on unhealthy food stuffs.

Food standards regulation to remove any added salt, sugar or fat from food stuffs.

A different drugs policy that sees the use of hard drugs as a health problem

A realistic sex and contraception policy.

Stricter environmental regulations, covering housing, water, air etc.

you know, i've seen people put into the hospital for intestive care and brina surgery, and to give birth to children and all these things, but i've never seen anyone turned away from health care. i guess the issue is just sort of unreal to me because i've never seen it.

Good idea Balbus, but a lot of people woud be up in arms over the newfound socialist policies, especially the banning iof fat food ads and extra sugar. I like this one-

Although I'd prefer a tax on fat people instead.

Anyone who I decide is fat would be fat. And I would have to be president, in which case I would also execute Congress for being unpatriotic and make elections illegal. Because after all, stupid people shouldn't be able to have a voice in government. Or any voice period. So all stupid people would be killed or sent to Wisconsin, which is probably worse than death. Then for security purposes I would draft every able and non able bodied person between the age of 15 and 50 to serve in my army, which would be used to conquer the world and build gigantic statues of me in every city.

So what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, fat people. There would be a 200% tax for every pound that a person is overweight, and anyone who can't pay will be sent to prison in New Mexico to kickboxbox with kangaroos all day. That's my plan for ending obesity.
