America has always had a nasty habit of sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong. On the other side of things it wasn't really Russia that won the war, it was the Nazi's own arrogance that lost it

I'll forget about the remark about the war. I am sure you are smart enough to realise why it is incredibly stupid to mention that.

I wonder what you mean by 'innovation'. If it means the number of McDonald's all over the world I have to agree with you on that one.
Also, in the GDP chart there is a 'Euro Area' and then there are several European countries listed as well. What is up with that?

A GDP per capita is more interesting to me and so I will provide one.

If we didn't colonise your country you would be speaking a different language as well, or never even been born.

    Let's let that argument rest, it's a never-ending circle.

well, that's a good point too.

I do think America's days of leading the way in science and technology are numbered.

I'm not a very good patriot. There is a lot I love about America but I think everything has pretty much gone to shit and the decline started a long time ago. I often feel I would be better suited living somewhere else.

I stand corrected because a brit with a chip on his shoulder spouted off a bunch of incoherent bullshit?

The thing is I honestly don't give a damn what you think about these issues. Responses like yours make me wonder - do you envy us that bad?

If you want to keep this thread going, I like to point out that it is based on technology invented in Europe.

There's a lot I love about America too :) But there's also a lot to dislike, of which their self proclaimed superiority has to be the most annoying when confronted with such an american. Also when they try to defend that stance by making it clear they don't know shit about the rest of the world. It's also a bit hilarious of course. Hence why both americans and nonamericans like to make fun of it.
I'm not a very good patriot neither. I like my country a lot though.

I don't think it's stupid at all. We used to have a good rapport between Europeans and Americans, especially after helping in that way. Now all I hear about from (most) Europeans is how Americans are all pieces of shit. That's a bit exaggerated but they deny facts to suit their agenda of hating America and Americans for things that most of us hate also. It's just tiring.

By innovation, I mean science and technology, business practices (for better or worse), emerging concepts. And I realize that stuff is really global and there are brilliant people all over the world, but the fact is that what made America great to begin with was that innovation and industrialization. Not saying I 100% agree with it all either, but it's true. The only reason China has a decent economy is because they basically have slaves and children manufacturing cheap junk.

And that's a good chart. That's what I meant by quality of life for many here. We might have the highest output which puts us as the leader but if you break it down in ways like that you start to see class divisions and wealth divisions and all that. Which, as a capitalist, I'm ok with. It sucks people have to suffer and I help who I can, but institutionalizing it like is done in those countries just won't work here. It works great for them though.

That may be true, I don't even know.

But I know it was someone here who forged a business out of it and a brand name known across the world.

Exactly. There are good things about America too, but their arrogance and false sense of superiority I can't stand.
A lot of the music I like comes from America.

Same here, but... most of the music I dislike (that I'm confronted with) comes from America as well :D

    Yeah, me too...

Especially those people that jump at any chance to spew hatred.

    They should know better...

    Honest, perhaps. Is it true?

The world constantly changes, so I don't think it's valid to dwell in the past. We don't do that either, Europes past is such a rollercoaster that we don't stand still at certain events, but we embrace an ever-evolving world.

Most people don't think Americans are all pieces of shit. Most people still think it's about the individual. However, in Europe and many other parts of the world, America is hated for what it stands for and its government. Not the individual people per se.

I do agree that many of the recent technologies do come from America and that the phone I have right now was invented in America, but it's not an American thing as much as a global thing to me. It's all part of a puzzle that come together and some parts are European, some Asian, some American etc. and together they make the world as it is now.

I may hope he would define that group as (religious) extremists/terrorists but unfortunately it would probably be defined as big as 'muslims' or 'arab's'.

The type of people that when their phone breaks they become in "desperate need of an iPhone5". The type of people that think you have no choice but to be apart of this fucked up society. The type of people that only want money because they want things. I could go on and on...I'm sure most of us could.
