Opiates.. but stay away from stims?
I love the contrast of opinions these forums have :p

I second Delta 9, and Shivaya... to an extent. I can't be fucked to do that shit till I puke, but the glow after exercise is pretty damn good to say you don't have to dose anything - definitely not jittery and very euphoric.
Otherwise just have a really long wank, or some MDMA - lowish dose.

Intramuscular ketamine. I find it very euphoric, create a bunch of wonderous mental realms in my head, and not only is it not jittery its difficult to even move.

The idea that everyone is effected (affected?) differently by different drugs is well accepted. But in my personal experience and observation of others and in reports from others, I think weed stands alone and above all others in that respect.

To super oversimplify I've come to the conclusion that there is a self-comfort threshold below which weed gives a negative experience and above which is positive.

And I'm one who tends to not be comfortable with myself and I find weed to be quite hellish.

Or in the words of a pot loving philosopher, "people who get all paranoid are just assholes anyway." I have problems with that statement but I get it. People who are uncomfortable with themselves often come across as assholes to others imo.

All of this probably applies to other drugs too but I've just noticed it more with pot.

    Thoughts?

Pharmacologically speaking, Cannabis-induced anxiety and panic is easily explained and IS NOT dependent on if you are "comfortable in your own skin" or whatever. It has to do with the expression of CB1 receptors in certain areas of the brain.

Cannabis contains THC and CBD primarily which are both Cannabinioid (CB) receptor agonists. They activate the CB1 and CB2 receptors. When activated. CB1 by its very nature, induces a sense of uncomfortableness and anxiety because it depresses the efficacy of GABA, the neurotransmitter that "calms" the brain. Keep in mind that things like Xanad enhance GABA. In addition, CB1 activation "short circuits" the Acetylcholine transmission in the memory center of the brain, which causes the familiar experience of the surroundings to seem unfamiliar. This can often lead to panic if coupled wth the GABA suppression.

Now, CBD, the second chemical in Cannabis, also acts on a slew of Neurotransmitters in a way that is essentially analogous to an antipsychotic. So clearly, Cannabis with higher levels of CBD in comparison to THC, will counter the anxiety of the THC.

I had to really fucking paraphrase some rather complex pharmacology here, but I think you get the point.

I'm surprised this has only been said once, a low-medium dose of good MDMA is very euphoric without being jittery. That is if it's good and not cut with anything.

Unless I missed something this doesn't explain why the last 20 times I've smoked over the past 20 years I've been batshit paranoid and everyone smoking the same weed with me thought it was either funny or annoying. Ya know?

Likely, your brain has more CB1 receptors in the areas of the brain associated with fear and anxiety like the Amygdala, where your friends have a more even distribution of CB1 receptors favoring expression in the Nucleus Accumbens which leads to euphoria. That makes the most logical sense to me.

Are you saying that some weed would work better for this condition than others or no?

Absolutely! In general, Sativa strains lack much CBD, and Indica strains are heavy in their CBD content versus THC content, so if you get freaky and panicky on pot, look for..no...DEMAND an Indica strain!
