I'm a big Bob Marley fan... I also have some Native American blood so I've always been interested in the whole buffalo hunting idea... and i know the song is not about Native Americans so no need to post that

Varuna is a benevolent, pre-Vedic (before the Vedas were written down in something like 1,500 B.C.) Hindu deity. Varuna knew the thoughts of all people and was responsible for maintaining the order of the universe before morphing into Indra and then Vishnu and Shiva.

After pretty much disappearing from the daily Hindu pantheon, Varuna returned and evolved into the god of the waters, you know, brooks, streams, rivers, lakes, oceans. So it could be said that, like the waters he is now responsible for, Varuna is fluid, deep, ancient, mysterious, vital and benevolent.

That's my story, I'm sticking to it.
