what does your username mean?

this is the thread where you tell everyone why you picked out your name. you guys have probably already done this a million times, but i'm pretty much a newbie. i signed up a couple of weeks before the old boards died.

mine is from a book that i read when i was a kid about escaped lab rats that were really smart, and who had their own secret underground community.

 

I was wondering if that was where that came from...

I think my username is pretty obvious, but a few people have mentioned not figuring it out for a long time....

 

I got my username from the song "BlackVelvet"..I have used this name for a while on various chats..etc..

Is the pagan festival of the dead celebrated on october the 31st. it later became all hallows day when christianity became popular and thus the festival was renamed Halloween.
however most witches still celebrate Samhain honouring their beloved dead at this most holy night of the year.

So far, all of the names are self-explanitory. I remember the Secret of Nimh, as do I remember the song Black Velvet. I've personally experienced Ellis's name. As for mine, well it's pretty self explanitory as well, if ya think about it.

Nymphe is a nickname from my hubby. "You Nymphe!!!"

i've just registered at this site today. i was trying to think of something that would give a clue to who i am in a non cyber world. "smokey" because i almost always have a cigarette in my hand, and "the barefoot" because i try to be bare foot as much as possible. its also supposed to be a bit of a pun, "smokey the bear". get it? although i have no special affilation or affection to bears, smokey or not. he'd probly just tell me not to smoke in the woods.

To make a long story short, my user name is a metaphor and a command. It's my way of telling other Amerikans to take responsibility.

 

Well, my user name pretty much describes me and it sounded better then my real name...Big Dick McGee.

 

Megara is a town in Greece near athens...one of the disputes that started the Peloponnesian war was involving the town of Megara.
