If you say that you are going to do something in three days, when is the exact deadline, or is there?

So lets say on Monday at 3pm you said that you were going to do something within three days.

Does that mean you will do it by 3pm on Thursday, or does that mean any time on Thursday?

It means they're blowing you off

If in three days time you don't here another excuse, they ran

    72 hours?
depends on what you've commissioned them to do.

if its art, this is at best a generalization.
never pay more then half in advance for anything,
the rest on honest to actual delivery.

but three days specifically = 72 hours to the exact second.

if they mean "i'll get back to you on that", or "bugger off",
maybe the context of the situation intimidates them from saying so.

    ^ Thanks, Themnax

I think exactly 72 hours is right.

I promised to deliver something in three days time on Monday 3:16 pm Eastern Standard Time

I think that means that I should deliver on exactly Thursday 3:16 pm Eastern Standard Time

And I want to be exact about it because I'm being pestered for early delivery, and it is starting to get on my nerves.

The badgering is not encouraging me to deliver early at all. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to it.

If I'm giving a three day deadline I'm probably not serious with what I have to do. :d

if i say something will be delivered in 3 days from monday it means by closing time thursday ....

if i say to call me back in 3 days it means im hoping you will forget and then if you call early i can use the 3 days as an excuse or when you call after 3 days i can say you missed the appointment and need to call in another 3 days

it definitely depends on context, but i think it would mean by the end of the day thursday in a majority of situations.

Is this about the girl in the other thread?

What do you have to deliver to her?

    A big package?

Is the package in your trousers?

less then three days is much to soon for anyone to start pestering anyone who's making something for them.
it would be different if it were a plumbing or electrical or heating emergency, or some sort of hazardous condition, that needed to be addressed as close to immediately as possible.
but people should realize pestering someone that soon about anything isn't going to help.

And its not my thread, its our thread, how can you have a star wars avatar but not be creaming yourself over this latest movie
