Actually I'm white too it's just that last generation and this generation in my dads family the Native American, Spanish, and Gypsy traits have started to surface. I'm white but my skin tone is more Mediterranian. I've been mistaken for Turkish, Hispanic, and Full Blooded Gypsy. Especially during the summer. Peace Out, Rev J
Manson looked like the stereotypical Hippie and after his heinous deeds became known all of us back then were looked at with some suspicion - like is he another one. Guess we can relate to Arab looking ppl after 9-11. In case my sig pic doesn't show it enuf: You know a picture is worth 50 words.
If you are white, why is your avatar black? I believe most people who read your posts think you are black as well. PAX
That was one of the few avatars that few people use. The name on the Avatar is Sufi which is actually Southern Iranian. Sufism is like a cross between Islam and Buddhism. They believe in enlightenment through music and dance. The whirling dervishes. I had a friend/roomate who was Iranian who knew me as a Buddhist but joked that I was really a Sufi. To me it is all the same. Peace Out, Rev J
I'd like to say I'm sorry for my mistake, I hope you weren't offended in any way. To me it doesn't really matter what nationality or colour of your skin is~you could be a green alien as far as I'm concerned. Or, you could be a purple people eater. You are who you are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9H_cI_WCnE"]YouTube- Sheb Wooley - Purple People Eater (1958) PAX
No worries it takes alot to offend me. I am a great fan of black culture without mindlessley aping it. Without seeing the person who is typing you never know what race they are. Peace Out, Rev J

Have you run into anyone of Sufism Reoriented? They were a Sufi group who started following Meher Baba in the '60s. Baba's family was from Persia (Iran) and were Zoroastrian or Parsi but had followers from many different philosophies.
Little sisters of the sun Lit candles in the rain Fed the world on oats and raisins Candles in the rain Lit the fire to the soul who never knew it's friend Meher Baba lives again Candles in the rain To be there was to remember So lay it down again Oh, lay it down Lay it down, lay it down again Men can live as brothers Candles in the rain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=530Hqoamf3Q"]YouTube- MELANIE- LAY DOWN (Candles In The Rain) WOODSTOCK PAX
I think hippie is a pointless label, that usually just means you're trying to make yourself feel cool.
Meher Baba was also "Baba O'reilly". Pete Townsend has said the inspiration for both Tommy and Quadraphenia were both allegories for the quest for enlightenment with metaphors from Sufism thrown in. I started reading a book called "The Mysticism of Sound and Music," by Hasrat Inyat Khan (I believe). What really impressed me about the book was how he freely cited Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, and Christianity. The book itself is a series of lectures form the early 20th century discussing the universe as a series of vibrations. This was about 50 years before science started doing the same. Peace Out, Rev J
