God is the creator and the one in control GOd is ALLAH, the beneficent, the merciful God is generous and kind, but strict and punishes like a parent caring for his children, but in some cases can be seen as wrathful. it's somewhat subjective yes people grow old and die jesus christ is a prophet just like Prophet Muhammad, Noah, Moses, Aaron, etc...yes Noah is a prophet in the Qur'an. when reading the Qur'an you will notice that the stories of various prophets might be slightly altered to fit the pophetic pattern in the Qur'an. Prophets are flawless in the Qur'an.. there are spirits, some do good, some do bad, but it's not quite clear...and some might be both...the jinn for example, its hard to tell exactly what they are. it seems they might be related to angels, but might also be able to posess and trick people into thinking they *the jinn* are angels origin of satan as i recall is similar to that in the bible...an angel created from fire who disobeys god...but sorry this isn't a strong answer i can't really remember. when i have more time i will look it up. god permitting wickedness? again its subjective...i'm not gonna try and answer that one.
jinn are not related to angels, they are another creation altogether ...and are more closely 'related' to humans, in terms of actions. just like we got our good and bad, they got theirs Al-HijrAnd indeed, We created man from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud. (26) And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. (27) Adh-Dhariyat And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone). (56)
All afraid and defensive? What's to be afraid or defensive about? I now know you know nothing about the Bible or the Quran and that you are just trolling and so why would anyone be afraid of a troll.
Thanks goodvibes83 for your answers, it's nice to know that there are some who will take the time to answer some questions about Islam.
Any individual who chronically trolls, who regularly posts arguments, flames or personal attacks for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion will be banned. Not one of your posts have been directed to answering the OP and your posts have berated me for not realy wanting the answers etc and even said that I would say that the answers I was given were wrong or bad. Perhaps if you stopped trolling I wouldn't bring it up.
basically, you're saying you want everyone to agree with you ? strong choice of words there ....how did i flame, annoy, disrupt ? please quote. how did a debate become an argument ? and what personal attacks are you referring to ?
Maybe the term 'trolling' should be banned. Someone who feels annoyed by another's posts might possibly resort to using it.
You do like to go off don't you. There nothing in my post about agreeing with me. I said that it would nice if just one of your posts actually had something to do with the OP. This was never a debate, I asked a few simple questions that you have never answered and your posts, for the most part, have been just to cast aspersions on my reasons for asking the questions. How is that a debate? I was going to re-quote them all here but all anyone has to do so go back and read your posts and see for themselves.
I don't really care. It's only the weakest debaters that make such accusations. I woudn't use the term myself (apart from discussion of it as in this thread), neither do I sweat it if used against me.
I could care less what you would do or not do or how you think a debate should be handled, because this thread is not a debate, as much as others might want it to be or how hard they have tried to turn it into one. This thread is a simple attempt to discuss Islam with others. And it seems the vast majority of posters in this thread are interested in not letting that happen and are more interested in hearing themselves talk than adding anything of substance to the discussion. Honestly, you seem to be one of them. The whole subject of your post here has nothing to do with the OP and in this thread is a waste of space. So if you wish to discuss the OP, fine but if not "please don't dominate the rap jack if you've got nothing new to say".
Now get me wrong, I'm a Christian and there is not much chance of me converting to Islam but I am interested in what Islam has to say. I know that the Bible is respected but it is felt that it is also corrupted, so I'd like to know where the two deviate. So here goes. Now the Bible says that there are many gods and that even your stomach can be a god. So does Islam believe something similar, so that "The God" is distinguished from them? Now as I understand it ALLAH is the Arabic word for God, so isn't saying Allah is God just saying God is God? In the Bible God has a proper name "Jehovah" does Islam have something similar or is ALLAH considered to be the proper name of God? The Bible says something similar, that God’s principle qualities are love, wisdom, justice and power. The Bible indicates that God did not create us to grow old and die and that Sin is the reason we grow old and die, does Islam say the same thing or something different? The Bible says a second prophet was to come, kind of a second Moses only greater, of course “Christians” think that was Jesus. So, I guess my question is does Islam believe that a second prophet is to come and if so is that Jesus or someone else or is he still to come? What is the difference between Angels and the Jinn and how did the Jinn come into existence? Okay. Okay. Anyone else?
is Jehovah really the proper name from the Bible ? how long's it been there ? 400 years or 2000 ? what happened to "Tetragrammaton" ? the four-letter YHWH, so you can't pronounce it and had to add an E and an O and an A (only I and U missing now) and then had to convert Y into J ...man, so much work done on God's name ..its not even original no more! lets try keeping the add-on's, but put the Y back - makes it, Yehovah. in arabic (and hebrew for that matter) it is Ye-hovah meaning Oh HE God is God, and there's only one ..if you got multiples, that's when you start searching for God's name and then make it up, if you need to
