If someone can keep up with me hiking through the jungle then they are not only in fit but they are in extremely good shape. Endurance is how I measure if someone is fit.
If an individual is fit, I relate the term to their overall health including an above average level of cardiovascular endurance and they take care of their body through proper diet and exercise to maintain that condition. To "look" fit, does not necessarily mean that individual is healthy.
fit to me means cardiovascular health, lower body fat percentage, and some degree of muscle tone, all due to regular physical activity. i am sad to say that i am not at my fittest now because ive lost a lot of my cardio. endurance, since i dont run much anymore. but i always snap back into shape once it gets nicer outside, and ive begun exercising again so im gettin there
I agree that being fit is more about feeling good than looking good.Something as simple as a long walk for example is great, especially in nice weather and surroundings.----BTW you know what alot of Europeans call Americans when they visit the states, they refer to Americans as the "Balloon People",because Americans especially have become so out of shape in general within the last 20 years or so.---Americans used to be known for being nice and fit, thats the ironic part about it.---If you have ever been to certain European countries and certain other countries as well you'd be hard pressed to find many overweight people. In addition to a better diet, they still walk alot and that is the best form of excercise regarless of age.
I would say that "fit: is relative to the person...everyones different....and to me "fit" is generally used to describe someone who feels good....some people can be over their ideal weight and still be fit....or under and fit
