I do support the death penalty. If you do a crime so horrible, something such as murder, I think you deserve to die too and right away. Why do we need people like that in the world? I think crimes such as murder, rape, pedophilia are unforgivable and should be given the maximum punishment.

If someone murdered your family member, wouldn't you want the perpetrator to pay for their crime? They didn't respect human life so why should their life be respected?

I do not support the death penalty. I've never heard a valid argument that would make me consider agreeing with it. It's a slippery slope for too allow the government to legally kill people and the whole violence to fix violence doesn't sit well with me.

Surprised by this, Piaf. Catholics generally seem to support the death penalty, which never made sense to me anyhow.

I don't think the state should have the right to put anyone to death. The government has killed more people than any one person, so perhaps it's the state that needs to be put to death.

Maybe it is just an American thing! I'm glad to hear that Catholics in other parts of the world do not support it.

Ok for the sake of argument let’s say Adolf Hitler was still alive today living in Buenos Aires; would you make this one exception after he was captured by forces loyal to Israel and brought to Tel Aviv for trial.

No. Hitler is wrong for killing people. So, killing him is acceptable? I don't see the logic there.

$129.00 a day to keep them alive. for what reason?

stickily housing them to give some corncob eating hill-jack correction officer a job.

they probably eat better than many of us. unless of course youre on the welfare too. in that case, just an inmate outside the wall... [IMG]

I don't think the state should have the power to decide who lives and who dies.

Good to see that America(ns) is just as cruel as any other shithole, like Iran or Afghanistan.
No offense to Iran and Afganistan.

Death is not a penalty nor is it just reward. Supporting the death penalty ensures we can count on meanness remaining appropriate in any venue.

That kid that shot those babies at school. Yeah, let's give people like that food, education, Tv, exercise and companionship for life. I know he killed himself---he just did his killing in the wrong order. Fuck the state. If any of my people were killed for NOTHING--if at all possible, I'd be the one taking care of him. And yes--our country kills way too many people in service of the ruling class.

I like the death penalty idea because it costs us money to house criminals and if they aren't going to get out or be rehabilitated then it's annoying to think our taxes are accommodating these types of people.
Of coarse, letting them rot for the rest of their lives is justice too but they don't really rot away, do they? I don't know about the Yankee prisons, but over here they'll get to watch tv and listen to music until their day is up. That's something I like to do in MY OWN FREE TIME. It's not appealing to think they aren't free yet live a decent life I guess.

I have a half brother in jail. I've never met him. I don't want to meet him. Every time he's out he does something to get back in. Nothing he's done warrants a death penalty but if he's purposely just going to live off my taxes in medium security playing play station... I kinda want that asshole dead.
