it was much closer to being legalized in the late 60's than now...and it failed then. You fail to realize how much money the government makes throwing out fines to marijuana users. I hope weed is legalized though, even though i dont blaze...if the stigma on weed is alleviated, it will in turn loosen the restrictions on other drugs.
I like to be drunk. I enjoy drinking. I don't like it when I get too drunk though, which, unfortunately, is about 75% of the times I drink. I also like tripping and being high. But I don't think any are mutually exclusive. It's safe to say, though, that I'd usually prefer to be high or tripping than being drunk. As far as weed being legal, it is certainly as free as it's been in quite a long time. Legalized in several countries, surely more will follow, many in which it is already legal de facto.
although i don't know the fines, i can bet that putting a dealer in jail will cost the government a lot more than simply fining the smokers. i may be wrong though since i don't have any facts.
