Opinions cant be stated as fact unless you have proof to back them up with. Focus on keywords: moderate and excessive, they are even talking about drinking daily. How can you say that ANY alcohol consumption is negative when research proves otherwise?
    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alcohol/SC00024
This is one of the many studies you can find online.

though moderate alcohol use seems to have some health benefits, anything more than moderate drinking can negate any potential benefits. Moderate drinking is defined as two drinks a day if you're a male under 65, or one drink a day if you're a female or a male over 65. So should you avoid alcohol? Or can you continue to enjoy your glass of wine with dinner? It's up to you and your doctor. Here are some points on alcohol consumption for you to consider.

    Health benefits

Moderate alcohol consumption may provide some health benefits. It may:

    • Reduce your risk of developing heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and intermittent claudication
    • Reduce your risk of dying of a heart attack
    • Possibly reduce your risk of strokes, particularly ischemic strokes
    • Lower your risk of gallstones
    • Possibly reduce your risk of diabetes
    Health risks

Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to serious health problems, including:

    • Cancer of the pancreas, mouth, pharynx, larynx, esophagus and liver, as well as breast cancer
    • Pancreatitis, especially in people with high levels of triglycerides in their blood
    • Sudden death in people with cardiovascular disease
    • Heart muscle damage (alcoholic cardiomyopathy) leading to heart failure
    • Stroke
    • Brain atrophy (shrinkage)
    • Cirrhosis of the liver
    • Miscarriage
    • Fetal alcohol syndrome in an unborn child, including impaired growth and nervous system development
    • Injuries due to impaired motor skills
    • Suicide

Thank you so much, I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully now he will understand where I am coming from. Though I tried what you have done already, hopefully now it will make sense as you have highlighted a source. We'll find out..

OH and for a side note do you know how many posts I need for a custom member title? lol

    You welcome :)
I think 1000, it changed very recently. Now I also have more storage of PM's

I found this other one, so much better, and so much more detailed. Not gonna copy paste it, because it's quite long, but anyone willing can check it out.

"so if i am right - that any amount of alcohol consumption is bad for you than i am not wrong to say that he has a problem."

Well, you are still wrong to say he has a problem either was as you do not know for sure, but now that you have proven wrong based upon your logic it is now safe to say that he does not have a problem based upon your assumptions.

dont worry my friend. i am sure that you dont have to worry about people thinking that everything 3xi says is the truth. as we can clearly see most people are very capable of making up their own minds.

so then - does it really matter that i say they have a problem - we all know that this is just 3xi's perspective and not necessarily fact. so what is the problem??? just dont like how it sounds when someone thinks they are right. get over man.... drop it... i think alcohol is a problem in society - big time. i am not the only one who thinks this. i maybe the only one in this thread but this is only a very small group. there are many who agree with me. of course we are largely out numbered by the people who like alcohol. we have the right to our perspective as you have the right to yours.

there is no use trying to convince me that i dont know what i am talking about. i am very sure of myself. hate me for it if you like but that makes you the bad guy not me. accept me and my perspective - you will never change me into the person you are.

if you want to change my mind you would have a better chance with addressing the subject at hand. why dont you try to prove in your own words why alcohol is good for you. because if it is not bad for you it must be good for you, right? if you can convince me that alcohol is good for a person psychologically than i will change my mind. telling me i am wrong for thinking i am right will get you no where. prove i am wrong or dont bother wasting your time. well maybe it was not a waste - i dont mind this too much. wish we could get back to the point tho.

we are not in school my dear.

i can say whatever i want - it is a free world... and this is hip forums. i am being honest. my experience is good enough for me to say what i say. if you need proof to change your mind than so be it. but to say that i cant say something - come on who made you god.

my perspective can and will be stated how i see it. not much you can do about that except for disagree which is your right.

and thats all you can come up with. alcohol may have these benefits. and all of the benefits are things you could reduce the risks of without alcohol.

i wonder if you guys can find any psychological benefits to alcohol consumption...

Dude, and why do you think your group of anti-drinking goons with opinionated facts are outnumbered? Because you aren't right at all. Just because we aren't in school doesn't mean you can start doing whatever you want. No shit there is freedom of speech, you got a way with this many invalid points already, right? Honestly the 'this is a free world' stance is something that would only come from a person who has nothing more concrete to base themselves upon, and is quite childish in my opinion.

You say any use of alcohol is bad when she just clearly pointed out scientific facts of moderate use, therefore meaning the people who drink moderately (which is drinking at all) actually has benefits and NO risks. Notice how its seperated into moderate and excessive categories? Notice how moderate has nothing to worry upon?

Lol, and okay, you want my own words on how it benefits psychologically? (I like how you ask for psychological benefits when the only benefits of moderate use apparently are physical). Well here's one and it's both correct and technical

Tim's conclusion on psychological benefits with moderate consumption:

    * User has the psychological benefit of knowing they are doing something physically benefitical.

And that is perfectly valid, I dare you to prove me incorrect.

"and thats all you can come up with. alcohol may have these benefits. and all of the benefits are things you could reduce the risks of without alcohol."

Yeah, seeing as you are a scientist of moderate and excessive use in the alcoholic consumption area I'd like to hear what you come up with that you didn't hear from propagandists while you were attending school 13 years ago. And now you just make no sense, how is being benefitted with something positive risky?

"i am sure that you dont have to worry about people thinking that everything 3xi says is the truth. as we can clearly see most people are very capable of making up their own minds."

Yeah, I guess you are 100% right with this being said. I couldn't even guess myself how somebody who is apparently always right wouldn't want to be persuasive in the lightest amount.

Nothing is good enough for you 3xi, I dont really want to convince you. These are the reasons why you CANT say that any consumption of alcohol is negative for a person, because is clearly wrong. Of course you can say it, it's still wrong to do so.
If you dont understand why opinions cant be.. ok I'll say shouldnt be, stated as fact that's beyond anything I can discuss with you. You seem to be a very closed minded person and that no matter how you are proven wrong, still will think is right.
Psychologically alcohol is beneficial when used with moderation, because it helps a person relax, unwind, if the person is with friends, it becomes more social and confident and just experiences a mood lift, less inhibitions. It can make people connect, because it makes you more talkative....

    you havent proven anything girl

how can you say that i am wrong without proving it?

nice benefits - but you are only more sociable when you are drinking. drinking doesnt teach you how to be social on you own so it is only a crutch.

sorry i should have said how does alcohol benefit you psychologically in the long run.

if you use it to be more social than you will never learn how to be social on your own... which is quite easy by the way.

Your initial argument was Any consumption of Alcohol is negative. Those were your words, that has clearly been proven wrong, but now you are changing your argument. Gotta love your style.
On the long run alcohol has benefited me, because after spending nights drinking with people, we have becomes friends and from the sharing we have done under the effects of alcohol, we have gotten to know each other a lot better and bonded. Im not talking about getting drunk with people, just sitting down having a couple of beers and connecting with them. Showing more of who you are in that moment, enables you to feel more comfortable with yourself and socializing with others.

Just to clear something up. Im not dependant on Alcohol or any other substance for that matter to do any of those things, Im just explaining how it can be beneficial to a person that uses it in moderation.
Im not saying that if you drink is better than if you dont drink. All Im saying is Alcohol has some benefits and that is FALSE that ANY consumption of alcohol is negative.

I think the problem here is everyone is just getting personal. why not just state our opinions and leave other's alone? well actually, im done trying to help...everyone do what you wish please, its quite entertaining.

By the way, i was just looking at the "most dangerous drug" poll, and it seems a quite a lot of people say alcohol is dangerous...its the 4th most dangerous drug. I don't think it has any benfits, sorry but thats just what i think.

I have actually found this to be the case too... I definitely crave some alcohol once I've come down from a hard trip. It just feels so good to take that edge off, you know?

But, as for the original post... LSD has not changed my opinion on alcohol. I knew it was poison to begin with, and I still feel that way. Moderate beer drinking certainly has its role as an enjoyable and relatively harmless activity, one I have enjoyed myself on many occasions. But, in general, I don't see much good that comes from alcohol. Never have, and never will.

I agree 100% Before psychedelics I loved to drink. Now I can't stand people getting loaded around me, whether I'm drinking or not. I don't enjoy being drunk, and even getting buzzed is annoying. I'd rather just smoke buds and trip my face off.

After my first time on LSD I went to some parties and I kid you not, I would literally say to some people who would try to notion me to drink. I would say "LSD told me not to".

"how can you say that i am wrong without proving it?"

Well based on your logic how can you think you are right without proving it (which was ours all along so why start using it now if you don't do it yourself)? You've obviously been proven wrong so many times in this topic, and any opening you look for you simply try and get something else proven to you by criticizing something new without the necessary logic nor the knowledge to make the criticism, deeming you just impossible to deal with and quite repetitive.

"nice benefits - but you are only more sociable when you are drinking. drinking doesnt teach you how to be social on you own so it is only a crutch. "

How do you know she is only more sociable when she is drinking simply by the fact of her saying drinking can make her more sociable and bonding with ordinary people around her? How can it be a crutch to anything if the thing it is "crutching" was put there by you in the first place?

"sorry i should have said how does alcohol benefit you psychologically in the long run."

And still I'd tell you it benefits the moderate user in the long run by letting them know that they have been physically benefited by their moderate alcoholic use. "Sorry I should have said" nothing, stop trying to change your points.

"if you use it to be more social than you will never learn how to be social on your own... which is quite easy by the way"

Wow that is retarded, look at it's premise. She isn't fucking using it to be more social, stop coming up with your own shit wrong about people and then trying to prove it on your grounds which usually make no damn sense anyway and contract the last point you were trying to make. You are around people, the topic is talking, you guys drink, enjoy it a little more. Nobody fucking said anyone was using it to try and enjoy anything a little more, it simply makes it that way.

    "you havent proven anything girl"

Oh yah, prove that, 3xi? If you tried, you wouldn't be able to. She has already posted scientific facts ruining any grounds your opinionated facts have to stand upon, give up. Stop using that tone. As if you have even proved anything yourself besides that you are fucking ignorant to people trying to have realistic debates.

If you need to turn to childish routine because you can't stand up and prove what apparently is true to you, true, then obviously it would be safe to say that common sense would tell you that whatever you think is true, isn't at all. You say any alcoholic usage is bad, well guess what, any alcohol usage isn't bad. It's moderate use is quite safe. And you can't even question that anymore, as it's already been proven to you.

Uh yeah, quite some nerve to PM you in the, 'Well now that we haven't established I am right at all in any of my beliefs in alcoholism [alcoholism in the definition of just using alcohol in general], why don't we discuss your alcohol addiction now?' tone. Guess this isn't his subject to discuss anymore.
