I like this but the space isn't even. The existing door on the right is 6 inches and the door on the left is a normal size.

This would be a good solution, maybe

The house needs so many other things maintenance-wise that this won't be a priority. It's something for others to keep in mind if they run up on this situation.

have one like the one in your picture that has a piano hinge so that you swing it open and it is easy to get into. I keep all my serving bowls, platters and casserole dishes there. This is it

I may do something like that one day. I'd have to remove the piece inside the cabinet on the left that makes it a self-contained cabinet.

I made a cabinet space for my cat to eat :D

There was a cabinet above the refrigerator that was hard to really access, but the cat had no problems getting up there from the kitchen counter so I decided to let him eat and drink up there

That's a good idea. My cats and cat bowls do tend to be underfoot, constantly.

Jeez--I haven't looked in there in years. Maybe I should--I heard a noise from within it the other day.

    Could be mice, Scratcho.

You better put some steel wool around where your pipes come in.

    Deep corners.... what else?

I mean isn't that what they're made for?

I put some canning jars back, contained in a plastic basket.

I'm going to put some coffee cans back but the are going to be contained in a plastic bag.

No more of that just stacking every glass bottle and jar every used in there; and no more just tossing a coffee can way back in there.

whatever i use the least is whatever ends up getting the most buried. i don't have any back corner cabinets.
i have shelves. organized by category. i have some boxes that might never get completely unpacked, unless and until i move into someplace that has room to do so.
i don't have things i feel compelled to hide. mostly because i don't have people who come around, people i know, i feel i would need or want to hide anything from.
