Yes. I made that No. up...but a scarey amount of Americans are apposed to it in one way or another.

Recent polling data from Rasmussen and Gallup indicates that more Americans disapprove than approve of the proposed Democrat-sponsored health care reform legislation that is currently up for consideration in the U.S. Congress.

I don't think all those apposed to it can afford to go private.
Many people are apposed to it because they are scared of "rationing" of care, the government deciding if you live or die, your medical records being kept by the government, or simply not wishing to pay for something that covers everybody, regardless of income or status. And the ultimate question if it actually does mean total socialised healthcare (which I believe it doesn't.)
Not all these fears are legitimate...but people obviously wish to believe what they want so they can remain apposed to it.
    Strange that isn't it?

A lot of Americans seem to be individualists to the point of crazyness, meaning they would rather pay shocking amounts of money so they can have brand A of a drug rather than brand B of a drug. Even if both do exactly the same thing.

I'm for a good socialized healthcare system, and to answer the opening post,I'd welcome treatment by the NHS.It's superior anyways to Americas for profit system.--And I guarantee this, anyone who says they are opposed to socialized medicine would do the same.

There are alot of ignorant Americans who are clueless about how socialized medicine works in countries like England, the rest of the UK,western Europe and so on.They do not realize that it(socialized medicine done properly) really is a superior system.Americans are not as smart as they used to be.I also blame the US media for alot of propaganda on both sides of the issue.Propaganda shown in between prescription drug commercials.

i can't afford private now and I oppose it for many reasons including it being just plain bad economics and the principle of me being able to choose to not have any insurance at all, which i currently can not do.
