me and my cousin were talking about Paris lastnight for hours actually - she travels there a lot. seems like a really awesome place. I'd love to visit.
lol - this thread is kinda funny.. everyone puts up big pictures of big pieces of meat and stuff and here I am with my tiny canapes and oysters hahahaha Okay here's a typical French Christmas treat - La Buche de Noel - Christmas Log (it's a cake):
Brings back many a memory of French lessons these past few years. They tried to educate us. pfft. I do remember they said father christmas is called Pere Noel. And they do things differently because they get small gifts early in december and then if they dont behave they get nothing for christmas. If they behave they get proper gifts. Our class was seriously outraged.. "We have to be good all year round!!"
It looks like a roast of ham I guess. It has stuffing in the middle, and it is tofu, yes. But it tastes AMAZING. Even though I eat turkey now, I would still eat tofurkey.
I dont think they do it everywhere.. All i know is our old french teacher, who used to live there, used to have that. idk..
Actually, I have two Christmases. My Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve is with my dad's Danish side of the family. I used to dress up as St. Lucia. We had marzipan treats my grandmother made, and a beautiful feast, cheese, meats, ham, lots of things. And then for dessert, we would eat rice pudding with cranberry sauce. It would be a little game we played. Whoever finds the one whole almond in the rice pudding, wins the marzipan pig. lol! On Christmas day, we celebrated with my mother's side, and the whole celebration has a MUCH different feel to it. More people, more upscale. More like a Martha Stewart feast. (I always preferred my Danish food). Anyways, last year we spent the holidays in the Carribean, and this year I think we are staying in a hotel. And on boxing day, our families rent a skating rink and we skate and play hockey.
