It is not like the Republican Party won the election by a landslide. Will the Democratic Party continue to falter like it did in 1992, when Clinton was elected, or in 1996 when Clinton was re-elected, or in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote? Isn't this the first time that the Republican Party has won the both the popular vote and the electoral college vote since 1988? And in 2004, 16 years after their last defeat in both popular/electorate vote, the Democratic Party only lost by about 4 million votes, right?

This is interesting...many of my neighbors are Catholic and vote on the single issue of abortion (though this time the gays came into it too). Can you imagine what they'd do if they didn't have that as a choosing-point? Although I disagree that Democrats should just conform to the Republicans on this issue, it is something to think about.

I think the Democrats need to really work on becoming a cohesive party, like the first post said. The gun-control issue could easilly be revised, I think, and would help gain some votes without selling out completely. I don't think controlling guns is really the way to stop shootings any more than controlling drugs is a way to stop drug use. There need to be some controls but the way the party comes across now is as rabidly anti-gun, like do-gooder progressives. That attitude annoys the shit out of me.

    So.

    Look at these two posts.
Without getting into percentages and sources for the argument I am about to express, let me proceed. (I will be happy to tell you where I'm getting some of this, but I have pointed it out to many people on this site for many years, although never in this forum, and no one has ever checked it out to my knowledge.)

The first person seems to be a Bush supporter, although I really don't know. His reason for why Kerry lost seems to be (correct me if I'm wrong Huckleberry) that Kerry is unholy or at least has formed some type of unholy alliance with the devil who exists in one form as a gay abortionist. All the Democracts have to do is renounce their subservent role as a tool of evil and the Good citizens of this God fearing country will respond. This would include the working class Catholics, many ditch diggers and praise the Lord environmentalist, whatever they are. I don't know about professional Catholics.
Oh, and it would be interesting to meet a socially conservative black Christian. How would I know one? What social issues are they conservatating?

    Now the second one:
This guy is thinking. Kandahar has presented 3 facts for us to check out... Won three debates, a poor economy, and Iraq.
So, we can check those out at least and debate their merits without fear of being burned at the stake if we disagree amongest ourselves. No one has been called unholy, no one has presented themselves as being more moral and an invitation to debate has been issued.
That was Kerry's plan. Check them out, see if they are true.
    Didn't work.

The first example sez, my values good, Kerry values bad.
The second sez, my thinking good, Bush thinking bad.

Narrowly defined values (mine) vs a challenge to the listener's intellect.

This is a classic clash of memes. (I'm not going into what a meme is now.) (Okay maybe a little)

    Red Meme:
Dominate and control rival groups, kill the bastards, period. Any reason will do.
    Blue Meme:
The terrorist threaten eternal truths, a crusade againest the evil-doers, rally around the flag and God, bring 'em to justice.

In other words my values good, yours bad. Me holy, you evil.
    Who's that sound like?

Green Meme and second tier thinking combined:
Honor multiple viewponts, the attack (WTC) is an opportunity to reestablish (world) community. Support and promote options with military action if warrented (Krishna-Arjuna view of military action). Violence to end violence if no other way is possible.

In other words let's use our brains, rally world support, explore the source of terrorism and kill them only if we must, but do kill them if it comes to that.
    Guess who????

    So who won and why?
In which meme does the majority of people who voted in the U.S fall?
