AA, I try to dispel it, and over a year, I guess I'm soda free about five months.
I limit myself to one 12 oz can or glass bottle (Mexican Coke, the real reason I can't give it up).
I aim for one-two days a week with soda water and juice spritzers instead of cola.
I've never had a kidney stone, but I've had infections, so the memory of that great joy keeps me on track.
You have mentioned a few time about cost.
I'm off to open a sticky for veg on the cheap. We need it.

Today's awesome breakfast was two warm tortillas with red pepper hummus.
To keep on topic and all. ;P

i did not make vegan pizza with my dough today, but rather pitas

the first two didn't puff [impatient man not wait for oven to heat up] so i ate them flat, dunked in olive oil and minced garlic

mmm [and plenty of pitas for later]

as befits my reawakened interest in japanese food, i had for breakfast:

cold cucumber slices with a sauce of dashi [kelp water], rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame paste

chickpeas [gotta finish the buggers off], carrot slices and kelp simmered in dashi, soy sauce, and mirin

    rice

was very lucky to discover a cache of kelp from years back, stuff keeps forever . . .

2 large cucumbers, sliced...or 6 cups 2 cups onion, sliced 3 cups cider vinegar 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water. Peeling cucumbers is optional. Slice cucumbers and onions. Dissolve sugar in vinegar and water. Pour over cucumbers. Serve cold. (More onions and cucumbers can be added to vinegar mixture later.)

am back to eating simple-stuff-in-a-bowl, the japanese thing was no fun w/o miso

rice, chickpeas, daikon, cook together, a TB of tahini, TB of lemon juice, little salt

    that's the ticket . . .

Made my first gravy from scratch, with veggie sausage and eaten with biscuits. Plotting and planning for a spinach lasagna recipe I got from a piece of PETA propaganda. Strange people, but good recipes.

I gave blood 2 days ago, and today I had an extreme craving in the grocery store. I wound up buying a big box of fresh spinaches that barely made it home. Munchmunchmunch...

    Yeah, my iron's low.
