Did you eat turkey? Do you even like turkey? Myself, I'd rather have a good roast, but turkey it was. If it's cooked well and not dry, then I don't mind it. I prefer the dark meat to the white. Unfortunately, I don't think this one was free-range, but it tasted OK. I also had mashed cauliflower and broccoli casserole. I don't do dessert, so instead I ate a jar of Artisana walnut butter, which to me is better than any pie. So how was your Thanksgiving? Did you spend it alone, or with friends and family. I spent mine with my parents. It was quiet and uneventful -- the way Thanksgivings should be (IMO). I am not really close to my extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins) like I was when I was younger. It seems like you grow apart from those people as you grow older, but perhaps that's just me. Now I am back at my place after stopping by a friend's house, getting drunk on vodka.
American I had hummus and crackers, toast. I didn't have any plans and was by myself. I will be making a roast tomorrow with homemade cranberry sauce, apple/sausage/cranberry stuffing, potatoes, green beans. I did go to a friend's house for dessert. Tried a sampling: cherry pie, double layer pumpkin cheesecake (I made that) and a cranberry cobbler. I am now drinking some Merlot and toasted up some bread for cranberry/goat cheese spread (my son is eating the snack with me).
Cheese omelette, as we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving at all. This is usually a holiday that french Quebecers do not celebrate (in contrast with the english Quebecers, who sometimes follow this tradition), it's not really part of our culture. It's getting more and more popular tho but many still prefer to celebrate only Christmas instead.
I had a Puerto Rican favorite that is a dish with Chicken Gizzards and Pickled Green Bananas aka Escabeche de guineos y mollejas. . Also Turkey, Ham, Cranberry Sauce, Arroz Con Gandules aka Rice and Pigeon Peas, Ensalada de Papa aka Puerto Rican style Potatoe Salad, Macaroni and Cheese, Rolls, Vanilla Cinnamon Flan, Cheese Flan, Jello Fruit salad, and Sweet Potato Pie.
this. all of this. we had turkey. i like turkey a lot. i slightly prefer white meat, but they're both good. although the turkey is far from my favorite part of the meal for me. the stuffing and mashed potatoes are the highlights for me. followed by the biscuits. then the turkey, then the corn, then the two different desserts that were available (yes, all this for just 3 people. mom goes a little nuts on this one). there was also cranberry sauce, but i find that disgusting.
Yes, cranberry sauce is gross. I never liked it, and cannot see what the appeal is. Then again, it seems like it's one of those things people barely even touch when it's put out on the table. I guess it's just one of those obligatory Thanksgiving foods that people just HAVE to have. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the cranberry sauce made on Thanksgiving winds up in garbage disposals.
turkey with all the trimmings (potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, green beans, home made cranberry sauce, gravy and some smoked halibut). Blackberry pie, lemon meringue, apple, 2 pumpkins, and a banana cream pie.
Black bean soup, Stuffed artichokes, some sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, home made cranberry sauce (love this, do people really not like it?), fresh green beans, vegan stuffed mushrooms. I tried a bite of a few different desserts--pumpkin pie, Kahlua cheesecake, creme brulee, and salted caramel apple pie. All good.
I had a similar uneventful dinner with the parents, which reminded me of last year's thanksgiving when we invited my Uncle and Aunt, who arrived after having just ate at another thanksgiving lol This year was presented with some free-range chicken, prior years I think we've done duck too. One year we'll get it right
Had turkey. Jane, my wife, got up at 6AM to toss the oversized bird, supplied by my mother in law (the witch), into the oven. She stuffed it with apples and onions with rosemary, salt pepper and olive oil and kept the oven at 325. She also keeps a stainless steel bowl on the bottom of the oven filled with water so the humidity stays very high in the oven. We also had sweet potatoes prepared with butter and brown sugar, I made some German colleagues very happy with this dish once. Asparagus with homemade Hollandaise, oyster dressing and the obligatory green bean casserole with French fried onions and cream of celery or mushroom soup (I never liked that shit, so I don't know which way it went this year). Daughter made a pecan pie and we had a key lime pie as well. We're not wealthy people, we just love to cook.
Wait a minute, did you give Rosie the day off? I didn't know robots got holidays off, they must have a strong union.
