That is utterly disgusting! lol No eyeballs! I can't even eat lychee fruit because they look like eyeballs. Thank goodness they sell smelts here with heads off. I don't like my food staring at me.
I tried out a new quiche today, asparagus and mushroom. It was delicious! I also put in bacon, onions and Swiss cheese. I had some for breakfast with wild blueberries (finally in season!) and canary melon.
Today I am going to make a thai red curry from scratch using ingredients from my garden! I'm really excited for it so I'll take lots of pictures.
Nothing really. I just made a smoothie out of guanabana, papaya, kiwi, pineapple and strawberries and just a tiny bit of water to make the blenders job a little easier.
I ended up making a green curry instead, since I found a few extra ingredients at the grocery store and changed my plan a bit. It isn't completely authentic, but it tasted pretty damn good. This is everything I made my curry paste with: thai red chili from my garden, Serrano chili, keffir lime leaves, lime peel, cilantro stalks from my garden, coriander seeds, Vietnamese coriander from my garden, black pepper, sweet thai basil from my garden, lemongrass from my garden, ginger, garlic and fish sauce. I also added half an onion but that isn't in the photo since it would have covered everything else too much for the pic. I blended it all together in my food processor and then tossed it over red pepper, onion and tofu frying in my wok. Then I added a can of coconut milk, some nappa cabbage, a chopped tomato another chunk of ginger, lemongrass stalks and a couple more keffir lime leaves and let it cook. I served it over rice made with coconut milk, cumin and lime leaves, with a spritz of lime juice and chopped cilantro.
I just made chocolate cupcakes with beet puree and icing made with creamed coconut. The icing is coloured pink from beet juice too!
The icing was a bit weird I used creamed coconut to make it and it was an experiment. It tasted great but wasn't an easily spreadable consistency. The plate we were eating them off of made a smiley face!

I never liked quiche until I started making it myself. I find they always have too many seasonings and they are too dry. I cook mine less than usually recommended and go light on seasonings and on ingredients. That's another thing, most have so many ingredients you can barely taste the egg.
I haven't encountered a man yet who didn't want to eat my quiche. lol, I can't believe I just said that. Tonight I had baked chicken (hush, I do eat chicken occasionally) with sweet potato "fries" (baked), yum, grilled zucchini and a helping of fermented mixed veggies.
I made a chicken wrap. I put in some of my fermented cucumbers and a fermented cabbage leaf. It was very good!
I made a Jamaican jerk chicken in the crock pot and served with beans and rice. It was good but next time I'm just making it in the oven..is it just me or does it seem like everything cooked in the crock pot tastes slightly similar?
I have a ton of fresh mint from my garden that I need to start using up. I'm planning on baking some of it into dessert tonight, but I haven't decided exactly on what yet. I'm either going to make mint chocolate chip cookies, or brownies with mint.
Another burrito for breakfast today. I tried a chorizo sausage, but it was more of a salami with chorizo spices, and mild at that. I was hoping for more of a kick to it. I'll have to try another chorizo. But it was still good. I had it with my fermented salsa and peaches. I love peaches in season.
