I had to look that up as well. Looks like it would be delicious and it seems like you could use probably most veggies that are even seasonal. I am looking forward to hearing from you what you used and how it turned out. I love this thread for getting ideas!
Made a hickory smoke ham for Kieran's softball potluck. I kept a few pieces for my dinner tonight as I am not going to cook again today. View attachment 1995
I haven't cooked yet but I'm seriously considering going to the store and getting what I need to make Buffalo Shrimp.
I didn't go to the store so I'm making Arroz con Salchicas, and having it with a side of fermented vegetables.
I made a big slow cooker Mongolian lamb dish that I'll cook a heap of rice for and make a whole bunch of quick freezer meals.
And now I do my "bad" meal of the weekend which is essentially making fast food the good way at home. So still burger, chippies and nuggies, but made by me, so I know what's in there.
This was yesterday's, breakfast for dinner. I haven't decided on today yet. We're in the middle of a heat wave. Maybe popsicles. lol
Egg Salad Sandwiches w/Jewish Rye bread Not very original especially for summer (and in the middle of a heatwave) but perhaps the old biddies knew what they were doing i.e. Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob...etc... :chef: Hotwater
I love kiwi. And mango. I'm really craving a mango, I'll have to get one at the farmer's stand this Friday. But what I'm really hoping they have is wild blueberries. They should be in season now. Breakfast today was a Croque Monsieur of sorts. Ham and cheese, broiled on harvest bread thickly sliced, topped with a sunny side egg. Yum!
I love the sourness of a kiwi fruit. I chop the very end off and then scoop it out with a spoon and use the skin as a container hehe. It works really well actually and whenever I'm juicing, it's amazing how two little kiwi fruits can make or break the juice. It adds a really nice kick to my tastebuds. I think they might actually tingle my tongue a little.
I made a cheap and easy meal for dinner. Nothing fancy, just cooked some rice. Cooked some mince. Mixed it together. Added tomato sauce. Mixed it all again until no rice was left white. Cut up some green olives with the red tongues and threw them on top. Grated some cheese and spread around. Microwaved until cheese melted and yummy. Was a good meal to get rid of mince.
I made a veggie stir fry. I bought corn and a crap ton of beets at a farm stand today. Like way too many beets since they only had huge bags of them. Any beet recipes? I'm going to do a beet and orange salad tomorrow, but I need some other ideas too.
Beet kvass! I've never made it. It could be your first fermenting attempt. :-D http://thenourishingcook.com/how-to-make-fermented-beet-kvass/ And there's always borscht. Yum!
Back to cooking bigger breakfasts because it's too hot to cook later on. I made new potatoes (they're so nice and sweet) with butter and dill, scrambled eggs and pork cutlet (I thought I had bought a ham steak, it really looked like it, but it turned out to be a pork cutlet), with a side of my fermented salsa.
