nothing a friend took me out for buffet lunch today and i had enough to keep me full the whole day iggy:
Cinnamon basil! That's something I'd like to try too. YouFreeMe, how did you make the mozzarella cheese? Sounds like quite a feat! Ha, BBAD's going to wake up at 3 in the morning starving. :-D I made a garlic shrimp pasta today, with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and asparagus.
This: http://veganchronicle.wordpress.com/2014/02/25/potato-kale-and-sausage-soup/ Only sub ins were pink beans instead of white and marjoram instead of oregano. It was amazing. Also baked some whole wheat banana blueberry muffins. So good. Love my days off.
Ohh, that does look good, Firefly. I've been craving sausage (real sausage, not the Tofurkey {grimace} I've tried, I just don't like it) so I had meat filled rainbow tortellini for lunch, with an Italian sausage tomato sauce, nice and spicy. I'll be making sausages for dinner later. That will hold me for a few months until my next sausage craving. lol
Lucy that looks good! I can usually get thai basil in china town and often at sobeys of all places. It is not the easiest to find for sure. Tonight was BBQ pork chops with garlic sauce, a Caesar salad and a tomato cucumber salad dressed with lemon infused olive oil and white balsamic. Too hot for starch.
definitely. They have some pretty good deals on bacon at trader joes fyi. I stocked up on some of that and some ground beef there today
I made Bangers and Mash yesterday! Well a variation anyway. I made Toulouse sausages for the first time. It's a sausage popular in France and here in Quebec, made with pork, garlic and red wine. I could really taste the wine. Served it with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, green beans and red and yellow tomatoes. The (new white) potatoes were so nice and sweet too.
LOL my dad lives off of those. That and Chicken Voila. I just made what I like to call the Spicy Bravocado Burger. It has pepperjack cheese, avocado and chipotle sauce with a slice of red tomato on a toasted bun. Religious experience. Omg. Or I'm just drunk, which is entirely plausible.
I cooked elk steaks today. It's the first time I've made elk. I got advice to use rosemary and juniper berries. I crushed the juniper berries and mixed them with olive oil and the rosemary and rubbed it on the steaks and let it sit for about an hour to bring the meat to room temperature, then pan seared them. The juniper berries were the perfect complement to the rosemary. It tasted fantastic. marinating
I made spaghetti sauce late last night from scratch, so it could marinate all night...I made a big pot of it, and just tasted it, and I am going to brag and say.... it is out of this world! Could be my best so far, so will be eating spaghetti tonight and for several days.....maybe not in a row, though. I can freeze some of this sauce for another week or two or three later.
mushroom ravioli, with one of those india vegie m.r.e.'s from tj's for a sauce. biled in my little sauce pan on top of the stove. fur me breakfast.
Both the sauce and the mushroom ravioli sound good. Was it a meat sauce or a tomato sauce, Moon? I made Coconut Clam Chowder the other day. It turned out really well. One of the best recipes that I've tried. Very flavourful with lots of clams. I like that you use coconut milk instead of dairy. Today was too hot to cook so it was sushi day. And lots of fruit. Watermelon!
Yesterday, rib eye on the grill with steamed broccoli and grilled peaches. Today was chicken cordon bleu and salad.
