Easy tonight as we had scrambled eggs with dill and cracked pepper. I bought some hash browns and did those and bacon and grilled tomatoes with basil and cheese.
Ha ha! I came in here one day when I was hungry and one of Heat's spreads almost did me in. I almost showed up on her doorstep!
I finally had my shaved root veg salad. With the new mandoline slicer, I was able to get the slices really thin. It made all the difference. A much nicer texture for a salad. And it slices so quickly. I had to use my peeler for the asparagus shavings, but the mandoline did the rest. For dinner I had leftover ribs and fermented veggies. And a slice of chocolate cream pie for dessert. The pie was bought and not very good.
That looks really good! Did you put a dressing or something else on that, or did you eat it by itself?
Oh god... I put spam pieces and pickled jalapeƱos in a pot and fried them and then dumped rotel tomatoes and chiles with lime and cilantro in the pot, let it cook down, then added cheddar cheese sauce. Then I threw in some cooked rotini and stirred it till it was warmed through. Then I ate that shit and hated myself. It was amazing while I was eating it and then I was so grossed out by the leftovers that I almost threw them away. Hormones make me eat such garbage, lol...
I realized that I hadn't put on the dressing after I took the picture. But yes, I made a simple dressing, just olive oil and lemon juice, with a bit of lemon zest grated on the salad too, a dash of sea salt and a couple turns of the pepper mill and a sprinkle of fresh dill. I love this salad. Sometimes I add celeriac and snow peas or fennel.
I'm starting to think it's time to get a sliver. That sounds amazing. I love lemon and olive oil as a dressing too, and it sounds like you've really punched it up. Thanks for sharing!
That is a work of art and although you should admire art, I am all for devouring it. This made me chuckle. Hormones indeed! Although it does not sound all that bad at all.
I was feeling deprived of fruit and veggies after my poutine lunch so I made a Caesar salad for dinner and then I made a giant smoothie later. The smoothie had banana strawberry, mango, peaches and vanilla yogurt. I drank half and put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.
I made a shepherds pie. I used ground pork though since it was on sale. It's constructed and waiting to go in the oven for dinner soon.
I don't think so: Big man, pig man Ha, ha, charade you are You well heeled big wheel Ha, ha, charade you are And when your hand is on your heart You're nearly a good laugh Almost a joker With your head down in the pig bin Saying 'Keep on digging' Pig stain on your fat chin What do you hope to find Down in the pig mine? You're nearly a laugh You're nearly a laugh But you're really a cry C/S, Rev J
I know Shepherd's pie is traditionally lamb (originally mutton) but here they always make it with beef. I love lamb, and wish it were used instead. I'm going to have to make my own one day.I think souvlaki was origianlly with lamb, wasn't it? Again, here it's beef, or pork.
I made a poutine today (with all the talk of them here lately), just homemade fries, medium white cheddar cut into cubes, mushrooms, and gravy of course. And I had a millefeuille for dessert.
