a slab of mystery fish from the 99cent, with some of that spinich polenta from tj's. that's what i just had as my first meal of my alter-day, a few minuets ago, sometime after 21:40.
That does sound good. Are you going to bring those in to work? You must be tired of bland baby carrots (especially with some people constantly posting tasty pics ). We need to come up with carrot recipes for Expanse!
Turned Some Left Overs From Lunch Into A Delightful Omlette. I Lightly Coated The Pan With Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Added The Left Over Rice From Today's Take Out, Then Added Diced Tomato, Cheese, And Other Stuff I Found In The Fridge, Then Added Two Eggs To Glue My Creation Together. Cooked Until It Roughly Resembled Something A Human Being Could Consume Then Served It On A Bed Of Soy Sauce. Actually, It Was Not So Much A Bed, As A Flood, Since The Top Of The Bottle Came Off Before I Knew It. Yes Tit Was A Very Simple Creation To You Folks, But I Have Dreams That One Day I Will Post Here With A Recipe That Will Have You All Falling Over Yourselves To Cook It. Don't Hold Your Breath, It May Not Happen Tomorrow, But One Day I Will Cook With The Big Boys & Girls....... :chef: Cheers Glen.
Helped my friend make chicken tortilla soup last night and had it for dinner and for breakfast this morning. Wish I'd packed more for lunch. First time trying it and I think I might be addicted. *-*
Marinated chicken breasts in honey mustard, lemon juice, corriander, cumin, fennel seeds, garlic and basil. Made Pasta with a sauce of cream, butter, lemon juice, garlic, nutmeg, fresh dill and parm. Green beans almandine and aparagus. Tomatoes with basil and balsamic and grilled halloumi cheese.. Marinated cucumbers in lemon olive oil, white balsamic and dill. It was really good.
I was a little lazy today...took a couple pork chops, egg wash with Panko and flour...salt/pepper/garlic powder/onion powder/paprika Pan fried them. Made some mashed potatoes with 2 taters, and one sweet potato ...and salad.
Must be pork chops night! I made a pork chop meal today with a tarragon mushroom wine sauce, with baked paprika sweet potato slices. I hard seared the pork, made the mushroom sauce, then let the pork simmer in the sauce for about 10 minutes. The meat turned out nice and tender. I had a side of mixed fermented veggies too.
Sure thing! Just call it something different when you "bastardise" some original recipe. I remember chef Mario Batali taking some short ribs and cooking them in a red wine sauce. Great success. The problem was he called his dish Brasato al Barolo. He of all people should know better.
Since we are for the most part all amateur/home cooks, we can be forgiven for not meeting masters standards.
Ribs dry rubbed with a mixture of turbinado sugar, cayenne powder, onion powder and a bit of flour. Then I go for the grill or the oven, I have not yet decided as it appears we will see no rain today. Until then, the ribs sit, in the fridge, with wax paper between them on a plate. The recipe was what was on hand when I was working in the Caribbean. We were out in the sticks working with a bunch of Swedish engineers and some local contractors. The locals always brought a chicken or fish dish and any time they brought pork, it was hideously fatted. The Swedes attempted a lamb dish that needed a better oven. So on a trip to town I purchased several racks of just ribs. I lived in Memphis for a short while when I was a sailor and got used to dry rub. So, to oven or grill? That's where my mind will be for a while.
I often slow cook in the oven and then grill the ribs for a short time. Best of both worlds as the ribs are super tender and yet still get the grill flavour on them. Sounds delish, enjoy your dinner.
I never said I made the original variant of lasagne. It like most things, has evolved to include many variations.
Webster’s definition of lasagna: a baked dish containing layers of boiled flat noodles, and usually cheese, a seasoned sauce of tomatoes, and meat or vegetables. I’d say Mattekat’s version fits into that definition! Today for breakfast I made Egg McHashbrowns à la Lucy (<----- just to be safe!). I cooked all the ingredients, then assembled hash browns, bacon, egg, zucchini slices, and topped it with cheese and put it under the broiler until the cheese was bubbly and lightly browned.
Yes, I enjoyed them at work too. Yes, eating plain carrots is definitely difficult with pictures of food from certain members going through my head :b
Those look so good! I am trying a batch of hash browns tomorrow to see if I can do a better job now. I may have to do something like this to them if they turn out!
