Lubbock, Texas. It's dirty, the people there are generally pretentious, and it's flat and ugly. It's like an overgrown Amarillo and while I don't hate Amarillo, too much of it is a bad thing.
Well aren't you just negative nancy. This isn't really a tourist city so we don't try to market ourselves that way. We get plenty of tourists but it is a vibrant city on it's own, we get more transient residents than tourists, which is a lot cooler than the constant chaos and relying on the tourism industry to sustain your community. There is plenty to do here. Ridiculous amounts of live music, both touring and local. Museums, art walks, the gator bowl, an nfl team, a much larger arts scene than you would think, festivals of all different themes, boating, anything water or beach related, a very dynamic dining scene, better weather than south florida and the keys, friendly people.. but honestly we are glad that the majority of you people from out of state drive right past us. 95 is fucked up sometimes, but think about how many of you people are passing through this city. It's a constant stream 24 hours a day of people going in and out of florida. And the beltway was not built to give you people some bypass like in dc and richmond. It was built with the city residents in mind.. it's a huge detour if you are just passing through. As far as I'm concerned, don't come here.
Wut?! :computer: Why I oughta... Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. Guess that's because it's January right now. Tucson is ten times worse though (as a city). I hate that hole. And what about Quartzsite? Nice place to live ...if you're a rock. :sunny:
I don't remember being terrible fond of Tucson, but when I was there I lived 20 miles out of the city...I love the Sonoran desert.
I actually loved Tucson as well...and Quartzsite, isn't that where the rainbow people camp? I know that area in general is little to nothing, but Quartzsite should be the best out of all the towns surrounding it.
I never understood Quartzsite, it's not anything but people campin in the desert. Not even the cool desert.
One time I was out there on a dark stormy day when it was in full bloom. It was so awesome to see, I can't even find a photo to match what it was like. I wish I'd had a camera with me then. I've only ever passed through there. Never saw any rainbow people. Dirt and rocks.
Yeah thats awesome, I've seen it in full bloom like that too :2thumbsup: Photos can't capture the experience of being in that desert...the smell after a fresh rain... incredible
the people I know that go there go because it's free. The last time I was there we drove a little further west to the CA board and found a great campground on the river. :2thumbsup:
(what city do i not like?) all of them. i only live in cities which have public transportation to avoid having to indenture myself to a car.
Charleston, WV - toxic chemicals, dirty air, and crime Baton Rouge, LA - toxic chemicals and extreme Bible thumpers Modesto, CA - social armpit of central California Marion, NC - povery, rednecks, and violence in a beautiful area Canton, NC - giant paper mill that smells horrible Yeah, I'm a real bitch for bashing a city in a thread for bashing cities. If they ever build a reasonable alternative to I-95 in that area, I'll be happy to never see Jacksonville again.
been thru a lot of cities- - the few that I don't like,,and maybe its because of the tough times I had there are- 1.St.Louis , 2.Buffalo,ny 3.Camden,(nj) 4.Amarillo, tx Not crazy about Detroit, but to be fair, I didn't spend enuff time there
No, you're just a real bitch because of the condescending attitude you have about everything when it comes to the southeast. It's as if you think you are some prize pedigreed North Carolinian and everyone else in the south is a backwoods bible thumper. I'm not even sure how this jacksonville discussion was brought up.. I think someone else mentioned it after your posted about hating it on first site. I just wanted to point out that you were wrong on multiple fronts. I guess I'm an asshole. But quite frankly, I really don't care and as I said before if you don't like it, there is always I-75.
Phoenix is a horrid city. As a city, Tucson isn't much better, but the surrounding landforms are much, much more appealing.
You're quite the one to be giving lessons in manners, I see. Yes, I can tell how you "don't really care".
