What are you're thoughts on Beauty?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me true beauty is deeper than just appearance; it's self-belief, compassion + integrity. Of course we're all influenced by the "packaging" initially + for me a beautiful woman isn't a made up magazine model but a woman who has confidence to accept her natural face + body, without hiding behind cosmetics, or removing her body hair, the real natural woman, that is beauty to me.

The fact is, it's GREAT that we dont agree on what is really beautiful.

 

SWEET JEBUS! 3 friggin pages of posts! YEAH! I'm the king o' the world! And, uh, hmm... yes, erm, meh. Anyways, I just got finished reading ALL of your opinions on beauty and absolutely love the fact that there are people in this world that see what true beauty is all about. In my opinion, we all can't come to agree on one subjected descision to what is beautiful, but we are capable of being true to ourselves and knowing what beauty in our minds opposed to being told what it is. F'rinstance, this morning I was watching a local Breakfast Club show, or whatever, on the telly. As it turns out, there was this fashion designer dollying up these two poor souls, one a man and one a woman, who weren't allowed to talk, move, breathe, blink, conjure thoughts, or live properly. My main attention came to the poor young girl who was literaly strapped into this disquisting looking corset and choker that looked to me like a device of medieval torture. The poor girl was squeezed into this thing and showed that she could barely breathe out of her own mouth. In essence, it looked terrible and it looked as though she was getting her innards squeezed from the inside out. Why does this look good? Does this appeal to the opposite sex? I'M of the opposite sex and I certainly didn't find a thing attractive about this look. In any case, I think organized beauty is rapidly taking a turn for the worse, all the way back to the 1500's. Jeez, since when is pain supposed to be arousing? Did I miss something, or am I just normal?

 

Nobody is normal, but you seem pretty close. I think the worst are those plastic surgery shows where they totally cut the hell out of people and remake their appearance entirely. I can understand cosmetic surgery is you get horribly disfigured in an accident or something but ugggghhhh! Play the Carly Simon song now!
