Seeing lots of favourites here. You guys are MY type of guys.

Here's a list of psychedelic masterpieces in no particular order off the top of my head. Everyone NEEDS to hear these:

Animal Collective - "Merriweather Post Pavilion"
    Animal Collective - "Strawberry Jam"
    Grizzly Bear - "Veckatimest"
Pink Floyd - "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" (mono version)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - "Electric Ladyland"
Jefferson Airplane - "After Bathing at Baxter's"
Country Joe & The Fish - "Electric Music for the Mind and Body"
13th Floor Elevators - "Easter Everywhere"
Grateful Dead - "Anthem of the Sun"
    The Beach Boys - "SMiLE"
The Moody Blues - "Days of Future Passed" (A mix of classical music and psych-inspired rock)

The Beatles - "Revolver", "Sgt Pepper's" and "Magical Mystery Tour" pretty much cover their psychedelic period.

Anything by Donovan, but the "Sunshine Superman" album is the best place to start. Especially with the new 2011 stereo remix.

The Doors, The Byrds, Cream and any other others I haven't mentioned are amazing, too. Can't get into "Trout Mask Replica" no matter what, though. Sorry guys.

I'm seeing Incredible String Band here listed quite a bit. I haven't listened to them yet, but I burned their 60's albums on CD and they're waiting for me in my music binder. I should really get on that soon.

Shpongle is another one I should get to. My friend's started showing a lot of interest towards them.

Purple Overdose? They aren't 60's though.

    My top 5:

Strawberry Alarm Clock: Wake Up, It's Tomorrow
    The Beach Boys: Friends
    The Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour
The Zombies: Odessey (sic) and Oracle
Pinback: This Is a Pinback CD

I know that there are better songs on some albums that I didn't mention, but I don't really know a lot of albums, mostly just bands, so.

And I would have to second SMiLE, although listen to Brian Wilson's solo version, not the SMiLE sessions, because they are incomplete productions, so they're missing things usually. Only a few of the songs were completely done in 1967 when Brian abandoned the project.

Deep Purple? Their early albums are psychedelic with 'Hush' being their most popular song from those years, they also were popular in the 70's but took on a more hard rock/heavy metal sound.

The SMiLE Sessions release is like 90% done, and the few songs that weren't finished are still there in instrumental form. I prefer the 60's Beach Boys version over the Brian Wilson solo version, because of the production. The solo version sounds too digitally modernized. Plus, let's face it, his voice was much better when he was younger.

I still give him the maddest props for completing the solo version, but I highly disagree in forgoing the 60's version.

The Delay 1968 release by Can is phenomenal. especially 'Little Star of Bethlehem'.

The Seeds self-titled album is awesome.

Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer is absolutely bitchin'.

Big Brother & the Holding Co.'s live-album from Winterland in '68 is also great.

The Electric Prunes' live-album Stockholm '67 is probably my fave, though.

Well, I mean, I have the 60's version on record, and I listened to it followed by the Brian Wilson version, and it just irritates me in some songs where there's like, no lead vocal or something like On a Holiday or one of those. I do like the ambience better in the sessions, they sound more authentic, but when I listen to them, I hear sessions, not a finished work of art. It's like a Mona Lisa without the smile. Or the SMiLE.

It's also so cool that people are picking things like Brainticket and Can, krautrock for the win!

And whoever put ISB's "5000 Spirits" on their list is the man.
