More productive than what? Than this: You've performed miracles and brought authoritative new moral concepts into the world, so indeed why not accept you rather than Him.
It established a perspective... (for the sake of discussion, debate, the exchange of ideas... argument) I made a followup post to clarify the perspective when questioned.. "no shit" on the other hand is just inflammatory not argumentative.. I am here to share and learn, not just piss people off...
Actually, no.. That's why i responded to the question the way i did.. If I were pissed off I probably would have rebutted with an inflammatory remark too.. However I do appreciate how easily some people get wound up over situations like that. Regardless its unproductive to the discussion... As is all of this, I feel like we (you and I) are selfishly hijacking an otherwise interesting conversation to have a debate over forum educate.. Otherwise I do appreciate and agree with the post you had made before we got sidetracked with bit of personal discussion..
I should have put it as 'really?' rather than 'no shit?' No shit seems to have caused you discomfort. I apologize.
I took it quite lightly, as a bit of sarcastic humor in fact. I made a positive remark about your prior statement being productive to show that there were no hard feelings and indicate that I was ready to move back on track with the discussion.. I am more concerned about how we have continued dwelling on it.. If you feel that there are unsettled issues between us, please feel free to send me a private message so I can reassure you that its all good... I do apologize for riding this as long as I have, clearly this should have been taken up through PM long before now... To get back on track I would enjoy more discussion about the differences between what the Jewish faith looks for in a messiah and Jesus himself..
The answer lies in 2Cor.Paul says that as long as the law is read, their eyes are veiled, and that not only applies to the jews, but christians as well. The reason is that the law is stil swooped in the former glory, where man had to do stuff to have favour wit God,it was a religion of doing things to please God,so that man could be in controle of his / her own salvation, doing something tangable. With Christ, the law is annuled, and viewed by Paul as the power of sin,and that leads to death. Now its a peustion of faith...IN CHRIST AS MY LIFE,AND THE LAW UPHOLDER BY VIRTUE OF OUR RECONCILLIATION TO GOD,IN CHRIST.
So that would mean Boguskyle isn't a Jew, which gets us back to the question why did Jews reject Jesus?
Well, I think ir's harder now. The further removed from the actual event of His ministry the less likely that Jews are going to switch sides. Would you if you'd been taught since birth that it was all made up? At the start, all of Christ's flock were Jews. And they were persecuted for believing Him. Yet they suffered persecution - imprisonment, torture, death - willingly then, so sure were they that He was the Truth, the Way, the (eternal) Life. He had berated the priests for bastardizing God's truth in an effort to set themselves up in self-important, high status societal positions as religious legalists who had to be deferred to by the common man as the only experts on the ridiculous multitude of laws - laws which had long since stopped being about God's will and had become props for their own social structure. When Christ gave the people the truth about God's will and the correct path to Him - in effect cutting out the priests from their privileged status - the priests were hugely motivated to teach the discrediting of Him. And they had all the many, many laws and prophecies and writs in their possession to use for that. Those Jews that were misled by them to reject the truth are the ancestors of the Jews now, 2000 years on. It's gonna take some pretty strong convincing to get any to admit that they've been believing lies all this time. Can you imagine getting the rug pulled out from your entire belief system like that? And why would they change sides? Christians have long since stopped conducting their lives as Jesus instructed. That first generation was truly blessed, and their children and grand children benefitted from so much strength. But with the passage of time the Christian 'Church' and its priests opportuned themselves as the Jewish priests had - adding new rules, new sacraments, new doctrine. And lots of wealthy surroundings - gold, fine silk garments and pointy hats - supposedly for the glorification of God. Certainly not for their own self-importance and societal status. Men would never do that, right? Most of world history of the past two millenium has been made by the nations of which 'Christianity' was the leading religion therein (Christendom). Looking back on that history, there's not much evidence of spiritual enlightenment there to convince Jews now that their ancestry is wrong. If you had been born a Jew, do you think you'd be convinced that your priests were wrong and Christians were right?
