My mommy is just mommy, cleans and cooks and stuff, too bad. She should emancipate, but she did, but then I was born and she quit her job. My dad is a programmer of sorts. He programs.

My dad was a chemical/plasticizer sales person. Just an office-type job. My mom works in the elementary school system.

My mum worked in publishing for a few years in Holland (funny story - they published a book of gyneacology but had a misprint and called it the "Boob of Gyneacology and Obstetrics" hehehe) and then left Holland, moved to New Zealand, went back to university and then was a clinical psychologist in the prison system, doing rehabilitation, for a long time. She quit that a few years ago and is now writing.

My dad is a computer consultant... I dunno exactly what that entails but in 1999 he was in the Millenium commission which was basically advising the NZ government on what to do for the Y2K bug thing and now he's working for the fire service and advising them on their system so he's pretty important. He's also studying for a masters in psychology.

What an interesting thread. It seems like quite a few of you had middle class or better upbringings. Interesting.
Anyway, my dad works hardest at being a farmer, but his "real" job is teaching middle school. He has only been teaching for about 10 years, he was a stay at home dad and a college student for quite a while before that.
My mom is disabled, so she doesn't work anymore. She used to clean offices at night and was a secretary during the day.
We did not have a financially stable household. But, we had a lot of fun!

My mom is dead. But before she died, she was a quality control manager for a microchip production company.

My stepfather is dead. But before he died, he was retired.

My father is a construction worker.

My stepmother stays home, but she is raising a bunch of horses.

Now that I think about it, my dad was basically a typical office yuppie & my mom was just a typical home-maker/volunteer/PTA mom/after-school group leader. ...quite the opposite of me & my brother.
