blood meridian, by Cormac Mcarthy. bar none the most bloodthirsty novel i've ever known. set in the 1840s in mexico . killing apaches and taking scalps for 100$ a piece. And written in a descriptive 3rd person style like none youve read before. all of mcarthys books are near masterpieces.

Finished "The Tao of Pooh" yesterday, and am now reading "The Te of Piglet", wonderfully entertaining, and even a tad enlightening one day reads.

I would suggest "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche instead, it's much better written and much better explained, plus the concepts are shaped to fit a more modern perspective.

I was actually considering reading these myself but didn't know if they were any good. Ah, well.. may get around to it one of these days.

Currently I'm reading "Ape and Essence" by Huxley, and then probably some Leary.

1984 by George Orwell, Lord of the Flies by...I forget. They're both for english. My next choice might be one of the Beat writers. Anybody know any good British writers? I've really been looking into them.

It's Keruoac IIRC. Very good books he wrote. I love his first person memories and present all mixed together style. His words roll through my head almost like my own thoughts; I read the words, and absorb and just get what he's talking almost immediately. Have you read his other works? Oh, you know he wrote that book in like two sittings while Hopped up on benzadrine, just a cool tidbit.
