Still considering not doing my Dissertation. I have emailed my scary tutor and I'm hoping he won't be too mean. I know I'll be disappointent if I don't do it, and might regret it, but I know that doing the diss will ruin my studio work. And my making is my priority. I'm thinking about career options and only becoming a teacher needs a degree, so I'll see if I need the hons. IF it does, I probably won't become a teacher...

well, the qualitative research PhD talked my boss/prof. into meeting together and she said this would make things "easier" for me during the research. So, I'm happy about that.

here's hoping i'll hear something from my bum ass peace corps recruiter today!

Sweet lens. I've been thinking about the Canon 10-22mm, or the Sigma equivalent, when I get some money in again.
What other lenses and gear do you use?

Not a lot of gear I'm afraid, I have a Rebel Xti, kit lens and a 55-250mm telephoto as well as some Macro filters [I know, I know]. Next I'm saving for a 100mm macro, some sort of wide angle and a 50D body.

What gear do you use? :)

I'm about to go for a '6-8 hour' car ride to the Florida Keys. Then a majority of my
time will be spent on a kayak, I'm hoping pictures will come from the trip and then you can see Sarah in action instead of Sarah infront of the bathroom mirror.

This morning I went and got registered for school, the guidance counselor thought I was some sort of amazing prize student and I need to go to a university and become a chemical engineer, and is letting me take AP chem, and physics, and astronomy on top of that and it pleases me. Let's see how long it takes me to decide these classes are either too much work or a waste of time, school never seems to meet in the middle.

She also said she used to have dreads :p

That's my day so far, usually I'm not awake by now so it's pretty successful already.

The last few days I drove 9 hours away. Got stuck on a mountain side and had to be rescued by hunters. Got delayed for 24 hours and ended up spending over $2000 to fix and tow our van. Damaged half of my hoops...

Saw some awesome music, did some amazing drugs. Slept little and danced my ass off. Met great people and got lost in the forest.

I'm a bit damaged emotionally from the roller coaster ride. Hopefully I find balance soon.

I've got just a EOS 400d and the 50mm kit lens that came with it (Had that for nearly 3 years now)
Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro (Not a true macro, only 1:2)
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro (my favourite ;) )
Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX flash
And a cheap set of extension tubes, although they don't have any electrical connections so you loose all auto focus and the aperture is stuck at f00.

I'd like to upgrade my body at some point too, but can't see that happening for a long time.

Ive got some old glass with the mechanically operated apature (pushes on a little pin on the back) persumably you could pick up some 30 year old pracktica / zenith / whatever lens at a car boot sale and get a ring adapter and use that with your macro tubes, you'd regain full control for probably <£20 (convert that to Australian moon dollars or whatever)

That's an idea, although it'd probably just be easier to buy some more decent extension tubes off the net. I can find them for a bit over $100 - $150(Aus). Less hassle and means I can still use the macro I have on the end.

Although I did learn a trick the other day which apparently works, i just haven't quite tested it yet. Is that you have the lens attached to the body. Select the aperture you want. Press and hold the Depth of field preview button and then remove the lens and put the extension tubes and lens back on (all the while still holding the DoF preview button). Then when it's all on, release the button, and the screen will display f00 still, however it will actually be at the setting you chose before.

    Except I lack breasts.

Yeah it's a great lens, my favourite out of my lot.

Great for me because I take lots of photos of invertebrates, so the larger focal distance is handy as not to get too close to the subject and scare it away if they're quite skittish. Or so I don't have to put my face too close to an angry tarantula haha.

Pretty expensive though, although I saved myself a couple of hundred buying it from the net, along with everything else I have bought too

all this talk of cameras and lenses is turning me on.

i've been looking at the canon 10-22 also, but have been having so much fun with my 50 prime that i'm considering just getting a fixed wide lens rather than the zoom. buying a new lens is a bit of a fantasy for me right now anyway, i sort of need the money for other things. would love a longer zoom, and an 85 or 100 fixed. but then, who wants to carry all that shit around?

i also have the canon 24-70 L which is heavy but LOVELY.

Aahh lots of canons >< I have the Nikon D40, with the stock 17-50mm or something, and a 50-300mm lens. I <3 my telephoto ^^ I'm thinking about getting a smaller macro though, since 'graphing beads is a pain from over 1m away ¬¬

This morning I had a talk to my Essay tutor and now my career aspirations have been flung into becoming an art/ceramics teacher, so that I can have something to write about. Tidy.
