my dog is limping and i had to bandage his foot because his pad is raw and torn up

Urgh had a massive argument with my husband over our 9 month old puppy. My husband teaches the guitar in his spare time and we keep Shadow (the dog) crated in the same room as the lessons coz its the only room big enough for the crate. Anyway while he's giving a lesson this procession of religious people are walking down the road, banners, brass bands everything.

Shadow would not stop barking at the procession disrupting husband's lesson and anyway he ended up beating the crap out of the dog for it. I thought under the circumstances he was being really harsh towards the dog he was just guarding and it must be pretty scary for a GSD pup to see all that noise etc etc.

I don't know why he didn't block the dog's view by closing the curtain. Now he's saying that he hates the dog and is desperate to get rid of him, wishes he never "allowed" me to get a dog in the first place (EXCUSE ME? This is MY flat!). Anyway I didn't know the full details of why he was barking til now and I'm fuming he's been punished for doing what comes naturally to him. I don't like it when he beats the crap out of him either. The dog always yelps loudly and I don't know if Shadow's majorly exagerrating the yelps as he often does even when I shout at him... I wish everyone could get on. Ohh there he goes again shouting at the dog again.

 

that made me realli sad to read hdh. I would beat the crap out of my husband if he did that! that's so unfair, the poor dog. he did nothing wrong. Like you said it's what came naturally to him and your husband should have blocked his view. I mean, if your husband is going to keep on treating your dog that way than I'd either get rid of the dog,,,or get rid of your husband! your dog deserves a good life and getting beaten up over doing nothing is just not right.

The dog does have a bloody good life its just more often than not the husband doesn't really have patience with the breed and he doesn't always lose his temper his bellowing voice is more than enough for Shadow to obey him. Husband wants perfection from Shadow straight away and he forgets that this dog isn't going to calm down til he's three years old. Luckily for me though Husband knows who'll end up going I've always made that clear.

Tempers went again after going to the shops with the dog and again there's reason for it, he was excited as I haven't walked him in two months We ended up having another huge argument outside the SPAR. Husband was like "Do you have to create a scene here??" And I was like "So... YOU can hit your dog in public and yet its EMBARASSING when I kick off??" Shadow needs more credit really. He is only 9 months old.

*Now he's trying to explain how far the dogs gone. I'm crying he just walked away* I'm sick of his attitude. Jesus Christ the only bad things Shadow does is not staying on his bed when he's told, general over excitement and barking when people come round.. I think that he's a DREAM compared to our last dog but husband doesn't think so. It's sad because Shadow loves husband to DEATH. I can see how he could get pissed with Shadow I mean husbands been looking after him while I've been finishng uni. I think I should take over give him a break take over.

 

The spar is also a cause of many arguments in our house, when will people learn.
