What is Deathrow like over there? Like what are the charges that would get it, is it everywhere, what type of execution do they use? I am interested, I just did a paper on Deathrow in the US. I am very 50 50 on the subject, so just curious how it is there. guess I could google though lol..

Just working on homework now, then maybe some drinking later with some friends.

We don't have deathrow here. I was going to write to US inmates as they accept penpals world wide.

I'm also 50/50, although here the penal system is a mess, criminals get better treatment than victims. We would benefit on the whole if the death penalty was reintroduced. I think that death should be given to child killers/abusers.

Not fair at all. I recently read a story about a man who was burgled and he hit the burgler with a bat or something... Anyway the burgler had substantial damage to his face and ear and the burglar sued the guy. We reward criminals and punish victims.

There's another story in the daily mail today about a young woman who got fined £2000 and was prosecuted for not reporting a 500 year old COIN she found when she was nine...

Those are my exact feeling, I feel that if they murder a child then yes I am for death row, but I mean this man went to death row and was executed because he killed 3 drug smugglers because they tried to kill him, where the justice in that? That is interesting no death row in the UK..

PErsonally I think the people should live. Some day they may start to feel guilt and then live with it the rest of their life... that sounds worse to death than me. Ultimately, I think punsihment should be left in the hands of the victim.

As for UK justice... I don't think it exists. I was physically assaulted by a random man on a street that was beating up his girlfriend. I lost a tooth and was beat up pretty bad. He spent one night in jail and that was it... I was awarded a sum of 2000 pounds for it which barely covered my dental work. Nothing about it was fair.

UK law sucks. Someone can commit murder and be out in 15yrs - how they can call that I life sentence I don't know.

Then someone does something little, and get a ridiculous sentence or fine.

Exactly, I think it is unfair that they are locked up for 23 hours in solitary confinement. Apparently a lot of DR'ers are incredibly lonely and I think writing to them would lift their morale.

What I find most appalling about DR is that they can be there for 20+ years before they are killed. That isn't fair, they should be put to death sooner but then again I know there are an awful amount of DR'ers who are innocent.

Because "she didn't report her findings to the treasure... Hang on I'll get you the article
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...000-garden-prosecuted-reporting-treasure.html

That's AWFUL Jodie, what a scumbag nation Britain is becoming.

Depending on the person, if he is a hardcore killer, and there is forensic evidence of this murder to a child, because I feel those are the ones who should be put to death, its just my opinion, but yeah they should go to death with in months, because our tax money is paying for those appeals and those 20 years + then paying for the injection.

In my paper I had told a story about a man who was forced into pleading guilty to a murder, the man had a IQ of 50 or so, and was considered mentally retarded. The cops forced him into pleading guilty and he had no idea what was even going on.He was put on death row for 16 years, until forensic evidence proved his innocents, then was let go and most likely ended up homeless on the streets.

That's really shitty about your story, I presume that the US doesn't offer any support to inmates once they are out, like safe houses and halfway houses?

I need to do some proper research so I can prepare myself and make sure it is something I want to commit myself to but I think that I'll write after I move. I'm specifically interested in writing to a guy who has no outside family and no support, as of yet he hasn't recieved any mail yet but he wants to educate people as to what it is like on DR.

I wanted to write to another inmate who isn't on DR but my husband doesn't really want me to give our address out in the extremely unlikely event they'll come find me on release. If I could afford a PO box I would definately write to him, we have a lot of things in common.
