What are you/have you been doing today?

Broke my skateboard again today no money until Friday... now I can skate for 3 days... Other then at did nothing at all... Lame day.

 

I've been working on various history projects involving the Pacific Northwest, notably kitsaphistory.org and yukonharbor.wordpress.com

 

I know how that feels, and it sucks, but at least itll be for three days

today i had my last day of college
WOOP
got my last exam tomorrow
and then im going to wolverhampton for the night
anddddddddd im going to coventry this weekend
and then i got a driving lesson next tuesday
and then i start work next wednesday!

today i registered for classes. and i am looking at plane tickets to jamaica. and just waiting to get off and smoke a blunt. aahhhhh it feels good to be able to say that.

 

I just woke up. Haven't done much yet..but I did receive a msg from the couple who asked me to do their wedding photos. For some reason I had just assumed I was doing it for free, seeing as I have no experience and all, but today the groom asked how much they should pay me for this. Do I give them a low price and make some cash or do it for free as their wedding gift like I had planned on???

advice plzzz.. maybe coffee will give me an answer *skips away*

 

Do it for a fair price; like gas plus time plus equipment rental and film. That way, it'll feel like a job to you and you'll try to be as 'professional' as possible. And when the pics come out really good, you just found yourself a niche, and people will call you all the bloody time. Then you can raise your price.

 

yeah chaos I would say ask for $150 or so... that seems reasonable to me for a non-professional

 

It really depends.. I did my first wedding for free, because they were very close friends and it was my first one. It's good far all parties involved, I think. They get good photos for free, and you can start a wedding portfolio to gain future clients. I would do this if they were friends of yours.

On the other hand, If they have a bunch of money to throw at a photographer, feel free to charge like $200-300. That is quite a deal, considering the cost of a professional ($1,000+). if they are not direct friends of yours, I would probably charge them.

Another option is, if you are renting any equipment, just charge the couple whatever it costs to rent the stuff you need.

in any case, definitely scout out the place the wedding will be held at ahead of time.. know it it will be indoors or out and plan your gear accordingly. and ALWAYS have a backup camera. they are cheap to rent.

Yeah I talked it over with some people and I will do it for free because they are friends and I have never done this before so I'll just use it as their wedding gift. If they want me to get them prints then I will charge them for that. I have few friends with cameras so I was thinking of borrowing one of theirs for a back up when the time comes. It's still a long ways away, I'm sure it will all get figured out.

compacted version: my parents are pissed at me for piercing, and now Im planning to split my tongue, they got so pissed that if I get split I have to split that same day, and even got the sentence down that unless I follow every single one of their "rules" I have to leave, and even if I stay I have to leave after highschool cause as it seems they are already being gracious enough to let me stay that long. so I'm just abiding the rules till I save some money so I wont leave home with nothing but the clothes on my back, probably wont stay the entire year though

life sucks

also: today I went to finish the stupid work stuff and have my introduction stuff thing, from tomorrow forth I work from 1400 to 2100 until further notice, and I only get off Sundays,

 

I'm all for personal expression, but I think you should think over having your tongue split. It's very permanent and if you really want it, great, but wait until you get into the workforce and know what you are going to do as a professional person first. I'm not one for saying 'you're too young', but for this, i'd give yourself some time to really think it over. If, in a year or so, you still want it, go for it, but I think the rebellion emotion is a bit too strong in you right now to make such a lasting, surgical decision. Just my opinion.
