well, i have a small amount of scotch and two bottles of franziskaner hefeweizen, but i might pick up another bottle of beer on my way home.

my dad's birthday is coming up, and since he's a beerlover i thought i'd get him a couple nice beers and some glasses. got a 22oz. bottle of trois pistoles and a snifter, a bottle of youngs double chocolate stout and a heavy glass mug, and a bottle of weihenstephaner dunkel weisse and a weizen glass.

as far as glassware he just has normal drinking glasses, a couple battered pilsners, and a nice goblet/chalice type deal....i figured expanding his glassware selection would be a good present, along with some good beers he may or may not have had before.

Tonight, more from a mix 12 pack of Unibroe microbrews, the white was the best so far, followed by the green apple, and then I have half a bottle left of the Rogues Barley Wine which is amazing, then 1 can of Guiness, 1 Sam Adams Winter lager, and I might have some Anchor Steam left, but I doubt it.

Yea, my friend gave me the whole 12 pack! And the barley wine. So I only payed for a tall can of Mickeys (For a classic, not for taste ;) ) the guinness can, and the winter lager.

so i had the 1st of 4 Hennepin tonight. was quite delicious. poured into a beautiful head, used a tulip glass - the aroma was very pleasant - floral and a slight fruity smell. tasted very good, crisp and clean. very drinkable. and best part, i still have 3 left.

pretty surprised that i found it in a local liqour store, since most places around here don't sell beer like this.

wow, i mean, a fourpack of 12oz unibroue bottles costs about 10 bucks around here, and a 22oz bottle is about 6 or 7.....

blanche de chambly is pretty tasty, and i've not tried the ephemere flavors, but i LOVE don de dieu, la fin du monde, maudite, and trois pistoles passionately....

i can't imagine buying a 12 pack and then just giving it away.....

Yea, the guy also gave me the $15.00 bottle Rogues Barley Wine too! He just gets smashed at my place then leaves whatever is left and lets me keep it!
PS. He got an amazing job that pays amazingly ;)

well i'd imagine he'd have to have a high paying job to give away that kind of stuff on a regular basis.

last night i had a bottle of hog heaven barleywine and half a 300ml bottle of sho chiku bai sake

hadn't had sake in a few months...this was like 6 bucks for that little bottle, and it was some freaking good sake as far as my uneducated palate is concerned (i'm used to drinking things like gekkeikan and ozeki...i don't know whats "good" or not)

this was the nicest i've tried to date, though, in my opinion....rich flavors hinting at melon with a nice smell...very refreshing, and also pretty potent

Maybe I should try some saki? I have to admit, I've never had it! I always wanted to though. They sell it at state stores?
