i just got off work (5:30AM-11:15...not bad at all) and headed over to world market to pick up some refreshments...got a single bottle of orval that rang up as something by pinkus (so it's about half the sticker price for the orval) plus a bottle of old rasputin and one of paulaner oktoberfest....i'll probably go get some wine or liquor or something, too. quite possibly rum.

Nesta, have you tried Becks Octoberfest? I was very surprised with it, thought it was great, because I dont care much for the regular Becks.

no, i haven't. if i see it around, i'll make a point of trying it, though.

sam adams supposedly has a good oktoberfest, too. i'd like to try both of them.

i like regular becks alright, but its not my favorite. i do enjoy it, though. becks dark is ok by me, too. i wouldn't rate either as being among my favorites, though.

the past two nights i've been sipping some seagrams lime twisted gin....35% alcohol makes it easier for me to drink neat than most spirits (40-50% abv and i need ice to dilute it at least....if not soda water or juice) i got it cause it was only about 10 bucks a bottle....but i was happy to find it was actually very tasty and drinkable. i think this may be a new staple.....

one of my favorite drinks is sparkling water and gin with lime slices....my favorite ingredients are bombay sapphire and san pellegrino water with fresh lime, but this gin with club soda makes a drinkable and much cheaper alternative.....

who knows what it will be tonight....but it will have to be cheap.

if i get beer, it will likely be MGD, genessee, strohs, or pabst. watery nasty cheap stuff.

if i get wine, it will probably be franzia, which is a good deal but leads to me drinking WAY too much and gets old quick....

if i get liquor it will likely be the seagrams lime twisted gin, because it was cheap and good. but i dont much feel like liquor.

hell, might just go for the cheap beer tonight. something refreshing that i can drink four cans of in about 30 minutes....

what i'd LIKE to drink is a shot or two of good whisky followed by a big bottle of gulden draak or don de dieu.

or a few glasses of really good wine.

i hate trying to save money!

well, i got some cheeeeeeeeap beer (busch light....ugh) but i also got two bottles of reportedly good beer to supplement it...i've tried neither but am quite anxious to do so.

a bottle of fullers 1845, and a bottle of weihenstephaner kristall weissbier.

also picked up some coasters (at long last) as well as a proper weizen glass and a heavy glass mug....until now it's been limited mostly to pilsners, snifters and ordinary drinking glasses for me. i'm glad to expand my glassware selection with some important basics.

Nesta, go a few posts up, and see what I had to say about Fullers 1845. One of the best beers Ive ever had in my life. Hands down, top 3! My guy told me they arent making anymore though, so I stocked up! Unfortunatley I drank all 9 of em already :( You are in for some good shit!
Edit- Ok, apparently they still make it, the guy didnt know what he was talking about. Sorry for the lie!

yeah, it was pretty damn good. i'll probably get it again sometime soon.

the other was pretty good, but not terriffic.

about a week or so ago, maybe more recently, i gave orval a try and liked it quite a lot, but it was marked at 4.99 per bottle. the store had them marked down to 2.99 yesterday....i might need to get a couple of those sometime soon, too.

i'm thinking tonight may likely be a good hefewiezen and another fullers....but who knows. i'll figure it out at the store.
