    Excuse me.

May I see either Alex Karev, Derek Shepherd, Meredith Grey, Christina Yang, Callie Torres, Mark Sloan, Miranda Bailey, Jackson Avery, Preston Burke, Owen Hunt, Richard Weber, Dr. Margaret or Amelia Shepherd?

I am sorry, but no one else will do.

and then while you are granting wishes.....please drive me to Mount Sinai.

    lol

I am tired of the merry go round here with my doctors who never know anything and it keeps going around and around in the same circle for months....with never any help.

My gastro guy could not find any results from my last endoscopy...so basically my appointment two days ago was to go there to make another appointment.

Couldn't I have done that on the phone?

Oh, yeah...but then you would not have made so much money to weigh me again...yes, I am 110 pounds, and we knew that.... and talk to me in person for 10 minutes.

but, at least I went to Toys R us....and got both Beauty and The Beast sets by Hasbro...one set has the beast as the beast and the other has the beast as the Prince. Belle is so beautiful in both sets......They were $20.00 each reduced from $40.00 each....and i got some other great things, like a Frozen doll and Frozen musical jewelry box and a fantastic Fozen paper doll book ...Stan's little niece loves Frozen and her birthday is next month.

My mom had 2 CT scans, a colonoscopy and biopsy, and an ultrasound that we were told would detect cancer in the center of the tumor since they only biopsied the outer layer, and it was also supposed to detect cancer in the colon wall

So the doctor at the ultrasound told us there's no sign of cancer

Yesterday she met for her surgery consult and the new doctor told her there is no way they can rule out cancer from an ultasound and given our family history and her weight loss we need to understand there's still a chance of cancer and they wont know until after surgery

What i wanna know is why did they bother with the ultrasound anyways if it wasnt going to tell them anything. I really do think hospitals run a racket and order all these tests so they can milk money from insurance and medicare

Just had another yummy, healthy lunch - grilled chicken and veggies. Sounds plain, but it was good :)

Good luck with all that sh*t.
110 sounds good for a 5'6" chick, but it depends on your body type.
I weigh 155 at 5'6" but I'm a guy. I'd like to be at 150 (and about 5'9", oh well).

I had a stomach ulcer a couple years ago....I almost died, I think. I needed 2 quarts of blood.

Just fixed my push mower which I hadn't started in about three years. Carb needed cleaned.

Then I mowed around the trees and the new playhouse we got for our granddaughter.
Yards to wet for the riding mower, it squishes when you walk on it and we're on the side of a small mountain. (The yard squishes not the lawn mower.) So the mower would just tear up the lawn and make mud.

No rain called for today and sun tomorrow so I'm hoping things dry out enough so that I can mow before the rain comes back on Saturday. The grass is about six inches high now.

Hoping things stay positive, there. I hope you receive good news after the surgery. I agree about medical costs, definitely seems like a lot of costs that are unnecessary.

    Hi Meliai

As always, I'm hoping for N.E.D. (no evidence of disease)and the absolute best recovery for your mom.

Doctors plan x-rays, CT, PET, MRI, ultrasound or other imaging to get good baselines. In your moms case, the ultrasound pictures are good to have and can be used to track changes IF treatment would be needed. The ultrasound becomes a good baseline image because it will show how things looked at the start of and the surrounding area of the tumor/nodule detection. In your moms case the Ultrasound thats N.E.D. is great news and priceless to have. They can be compared with later images in the future to see the results changed in the surrounding area over time, months or even years from now. Even after surgical removal where smooth tissue could look different now beacuse of scar tissue would exist in place of it.

My go to has always been , more imaging the better. The baseline strategy is the best line of early detection. You can't ever go back in time to get it. For alot of patients I know of, some say, "if I would have had that...... [blank]..... [blank] ....... image done I could have caught these changes earlier".

Doctors are never perfect in some of their decisions, but having all those images at your grasp is a mighty sword to wield when battling the "C".

    Thinking and hoping for:
    Clean scans
    Clean biopsy
    Clean pathology
    Speedy recovery

Thank you Pete, you sound experienced in this area. Are you a doctor or just experienced at being a patient/family of a patient?

I know doctors do try to do the best for their patients and costs are usually the last thing on their mind, for better or worse. But i do wonder about hospital administration, whose job it is to be very concerned with costs as well as being thorough enough to avoid medical malpractice suits...which isnt a bad thing of course, being thorough is good

Anyways that really does put the ultrasound into perspective so thanks. I'm mostly frustrated that the last doctor told us she was in the clear and this doctor is like..syke! Take backsies

Bummer that your mom's health is still in question. It's got to be difficult to feel that level of relief and then be told that, basically, no one knows anything yet. But Pete's right. It's part of a process of documentation. And I know dealing with any medical situation can be very frustrating, but doctors aren't milking money from anyone. There'd be no point. It wouldn't end up in their pockets. I'm sure they are just dotting their Is and crossing their Ts. They want the best for you mom too :)

    Anyway, I agree with Pete:
    Clean scans!
    Clean biopsy!
    Clean pathology!
    Speedy recovery!

Here is a hug if you need one :)

    Your very welcome Meliai.

I've been a caregiver to my wife who is battling two primary cancers for 3 1/2 years. I know this global scourge very well.

Your frustrations are justified, but take deep breaths and some relief in those frustrations. Your mom has a vast medical team, they're all checking each others work to make the best possible decisions. The sonologist is doing their job, giving professional input on your moms ultrasound. The surgeons now give there input, and so on. It's a well oiled machine of information gathering to collaborate the best care possible for her.

    Take care
I wish you and your family well.

    Really? :(

This is not the VA. It is the digestive center of Hudson valley, who my general doctor sent me to in the first place highly recommended. They have many excellent doctors there...my first gastroenterologist was female and she performed the first endoscopy...and told me she did everything she could then but not the stomach as she saw vegetables in the stomach. I told her I ate those vegetables 4 days prior...so she is the first one who told me that I had lazy stomach.

Then she passed the ball of me to another doctor colleague of hers......and told me he was excellent and took care of her father.......and is the only one who does certain things.....so I went to him for number 2 and number 3 endoscopies...After the first endoscopy he did....well...that was a story...i kept calling these people days before asking what i should do to not have food in my stomach but never got any real answers....as usually......the directions are to not eat or drink anything after midnight prior only......so i barely ate anything for about a week prior to the second time.......and he seemed nice at first...but after I came to after the second time.....he was gruff and just blurted out to me that he aborted the whole thing as there was food in my stomach...DUH!!!! I have been trying to tell you people this or telling you this...and asking you what to do to prepare for this but got no answers!
Obviously, you did not believe me!....and probably thought I was eating up a storm all day yesterday or something....I mean I had to go the hospital for one of your tests and drink barium.........and then when I had another looking at things tests at the hospital for a couple of days later...I told the hospital people I had gastroparesis...so the hospital told me to not get the second test done for another 7 days.....so i waited the 7 days and went back for the second test....and they STILL SAW BARIUM in my stomach!!!!!!!!!!!...so doesn't that prove to you....I AM NOT LIEING! It says right there from the hospital...barium still in the stomach after 7 days...PATIENT HAS GASTROPARESIS.....!I was so angry.
The third time he tried the endoscopy....I had not had anything but clear liquid diet prior for 4 days and there was still food in my stomach........so he moved it out of the way the third time too take a closer look...yes, I have gastroparesis.............and you know that now...he told me the other day I have that....yes, we knew that now for what 2 or 3 months now....so that is why we are looking at what is causing it?!

This is why I refused to do any of the eating the nuclear eggs or something tests you wanted me to do....so I can have nuclear matter in my stomach for an eternity?! NO THANk YOU!

My stomach is not empyting....so after 10 days or so...i start with the laxatives to get everything moving....It may be time for me to drink another citrate magnesium tonight.....i feel......I feel good after....and it has been a week since the last one I drank....and I am starting to not feel so good anymore...and that is why....I have to get the system of mine to flush everything out I ate for the past 7-8 days.again.

It is a good thing that Stan has such good insurance that covers me, too...or we would be selling our house, I fear.......and I have to make sure anywhere I go will take his insurance.

The insurance will not cover acupuncture or my Chinese doctor.....so that will have to come out of my pocket, when I am ready.
