hiding from the oppressively hot weather.
(and likely to continue doing so for the next two or three days)

there was a whole bunch of fireworks where i can't see them but only hear them from where i live a few hours ago.
which i think it had something to do with juneteenth having become a new national holiday where i live in the u.s.
apparantly there were other events and stuff, but for me, it was too hot outside for me to get out and go to any of them.

moms carry us inside them for nine months. dads get off with fifteen minuets of pleasure.
once upon a time though, they did slave to keep their spouses and gits fed and sheltered.

i don't believe in masculinity and kind of not in femininity either. to me it seems like both are too often simply excuses for inconsiderateness and hatred of logic.

that being said, i'd be more interested in an architects or civil engineer's day. or even a furry creatures day, or a people who live on other worlds day.
or a day to celebrate when the intersection between infrastructure and environment is done right.

we glorify too many of the wrong things because they're dramatic or exciting.
well there's a couple of other things going on that kind of overshadow the contribution of the male biological polarity to the excessive level of human population.

one as mentioned is juneteenth, the other is (gay alphabet soup) pride month, and there are probably others.

my dad meant well, but he was also bat shit crazy, (although unlike so many today, he kept up a good front of reasonableness and civility, and was even honest enough on occasion to admit it) and maybe so am i. as for missing either of them, well i don't wish to make their ghosts sad or unhappy, but seldom if ever did i feel close enough, and its not like they were unemotional people, i was, most likely in response to their being excessively so, to feel the kind of strong attraction, either toward or away from them, that they felt toward me, if only do to the natural instinct of being parents.

i had a father and that was a thing. whatever else, he did take that he was one seriously. my best are of the only house that wasn't a rental, but those aren't my best memories of him.
my best memories of him were oddly enough after he sold his equity in the little half acre of land with the two cabins on it, and bought himself his furst 'car', a little datsun pickup, and from that time until i left to go into the air force, every weekend, every spare moment away from work and the need to sleep, it was his adiction if anything even more then mine, to explore every backroad withing a day's driving, two or even three, hundreds of miles, kind of to make up for all the years i was in school up until then, when i was the only kid in class who's parents didn't have a car of some kind and all the places they were able to go to having one.

in those days we could still go a lot of places on trains and buses, and his pass got him on the trains for free, but there were all the many fascinating odd little places there wasn't a train or a bus that went to.

Sold our Yukon today. I'm going to miss that vehicle. Chilling out now, but need a shower soon and then it's time to hit the hay.

Kayaking on the lake and then a picnic with some neighbors and folk from the local Episcopal Church.
