Almost finished with ''Divine Direction,'' and it's a bit underwhelming. I was hoping for more, but it's okay.

I bought a Mesa Selimovic book on your advice but it turned out to be in French. It's nice to have it though.

  8. Oh no.
Now it will be unread :-/

It's a great book though, I don't know how many times I've read it so far.

If I devoted the next twenty years to learning French I could probably make some sense of it, but I'm getting on in years and I haven't got time for that. I'd much rather learn a bit of Russian for my personal edification. An even more impossible task, but it would be endlessly fascinating.

  11. It's useless.
If you do want to read it, read it in English.
If you're anything like me...while reading in a foreign language, you'd just focus on grammar, vocabulary and structure. And not on the book itself.
And that book is too good for that.

I usually go with dutch translations, even with english authors. I did read the LotR in english though! One of the few non dutch books i read in its original language.

I'm sure you made the right choice there :yum:

Did you read The Silmarillion in English too? The language there is a kind of 'high' English I'd say. Almost poetic. Fitted perfectly to the themes in the story.

Released around Y2K, so there is some dated info but it has some good info on hardware and computer history. Checked out from library.
