Picked up The name of the rose again. Damn, if you think Tolkien writes longwinded.... :p Great depth, details and story though!

There are some interesting titles here.

We should include a brief synopsis or review so that we can look into the books in greater depth if they look interesting.

    A paragraph maybe.

Here is a review of Descates' Baby.

Like I iust said to someone else....I am a Bosnian Croat, so it is interesting for me to see how someone else, who is not from these parts, sees this area and the people here.
Also, what fascinated me is just how much of what he wrote is still valid today.
    Some things haven't changed much.

So two people from here are going to read it, pretty cool!

The subject sounds great! Sad thing is I would be slightly less interested if it was focussed on and written in these days :p but it is intriguing that a lot of things still seem to fit today. And people here (generally) know so little about the late 1900, especially where it comes to the Balkan and south east of it :D I would try it too!

Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter. So far, I'm not sure I get the big hype. The first chapter was really good, but after that..

That's understandable. If I weren't from here, I probably wouldn't be reading about it.

Well, that isn't exactly what I ment in my own case. It's more that I am more interested in (comparisons with) the past of most regions, but not really in reading extensively about how people live now. I do am interested in that at times but I generally get into that through documentaries and stuff rather than reading.
