Once Bitten Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin. Am halfway through it an I only started it yesterday. I like vampire stuff but am not a 14 year old so no Twilight.
I like a bit of Dick. Especially his non sci fi novels like Confessions Of A Crap Artist and In Milton Lumkey Territory. I think he did two others, but I can't remember the names offhand. Anyway, I'm reading The People's Act Of Love by James Meek.
His normal fiction are my favorite, nowadays. His science fiction has paled in comparison, even though he's my favorite sci-fi author. I really recommend The Man Whose Teeth Were All Exactly Alike. It explores the complicated nature of relationships (especially with people we don't like), the way our actions affect others, and the husband-wife dynamic with such precision and clarity. Also, it has really diverse characters and is one of his best uses of the pulp style. Confessions of a Crap Artist is his only normal fiction that I haven't read; but I've always wanted to.
Well, I've gotta say, The People's Act Of Love is shaping up to be a tip-top read. Here's a review of it (by Irvine Welsh, no less) in case anyone's interested... http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2005/jul/09/featuresreviews.guardianreview28 I pick some shit hot books, me. even if I do say so myself.
Haha just finished watching Mr Nice the movie. Its pretty cool - his early life played out in retro black and white and his post first toke life retro-ish 60s colour. The way he blagged the second trial was insane...secret agent for the Mexican intelligence service!! ha! Anyway am reading The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test....everyone should read this! The style takes a little getting used to but it is ultimately awesome.:2thumbsup:
I just finished the Fabulous Furry Freak Brother Omnibus edition. Next I might finally get around to reading Saharasia by DeMeo.
the fabulous furry freak brothers are AWESOME. have you heard gilbert shelton's trying to raise funds to make "grass roots" into a film? could be amazing. i'm currently reading "diamond age" by neal stephenson, which is some of the best modern science fiction i've ever come across, just finished "snow crash" by him which was brilliant as well.
Hip Forums. Just waiting on my copy of 'The Doors of Perception' from Amazon... Taking frickin aaaages!
I'm re-reading the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. Martin in preparation for "Dance of Dragons" coming out in July. Can't fucking wait!
