I feel hurt by this too, but I'm trying to change my view of it because sometimes it's a person who I KNOW cares about me, so the feeling that "they've let me down, they just don't care", is obviously incorrect. I think I'd rather they not do a thing than do it out of obligation.. But then I'd rather they not make a promise in the first place!

Thats another lesson i've learned, not to be do hard on the ones I love. If they let me down I know they dont mean to. We're all just doing the best we can

All good things in life are hard.

    Love is fickle

    Dependability is made not born

Respect should be earned not freely given

A good truck is worth two cars

A good gun won't let you down long as you treat it right

People are dumb as a rock most times

    Change is important to growth

Your darkest moments can turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

For those who take their solo goals or passions very seriously: Just focus on that. Nothing else. Its the ones that are the closest to you that will likely bring you down even with good intentions. Ignore them. Even if there is drama going on. That's their responsibility, let them figure it out for themselves.

There will always be shit people
But shhhh, I am trying to be less misanthropic and focus on the good and decent people of the world
Which all the people in my life are good and decent, thankfully.

Most--not all, but most--people will eventually disappoint you.

The past few years have taught me mostly positive things, or at least made me feel less jaded then I used to.

Most people are pretty neutral, not particularly bad or good. Their behavior is them reacting to their environment. Set your expectations accordingly.

Mind over matter is a powerful thing. It sounds so trite, but it’s true: attitude is everything.

well as an infant i learned how to walk, communicate, and tie my shoe laces.

all of us together create what each of us alone experience. there might be gods, there might be all sorts of outside things, but really, that don't participate nearly, if at all, as much as we influence each other, and then, whatever cultural values we create, the consensus of that, statistical as it might be, that is what we have to live in.

then of course there's the physical universe that in many ways is doesn't suffer our anxieties. you build in the path of a natural hazard, sooner or later you will experience it.

people telling each other what to pretend, aren't the voices of gods, they're just people telling each other what to pretend.
(even if they did so by writing it on bamboo or carving it in stone thousands of years ago)

i say things because, at times, these are things that have been hidden from me, as people hide them from themselves and each other.

the universe doesn't exist for the convenience of our species.
everything in it exists for as much entirely its own reasons as does our species and our planet.

and that includes its nature which is diversity.

maybe i'm misunderstanding the question, as i sometimes do with a lot of human things too.

    number one is true.

    what money buys is convenience.
what buys happiness is creating and exploring.

without imagination, you can have all the money in the world and still not have shit.

convenience feels good, dam good, for as long as it lasts.
i won't try to suggest otherwise.
but if you've never seen a person with all the advantages not being happy,
you probably haven't been paying attention.

Love isn't fickle. If it is, it isn't love.

I'm sure he believes he's got a very good model of the world, one of the best models.

Money can buy happiness, to a point.

Once you earn enough income to meet your basic needs, with a little bit extra— meals that you enjoy, an occassional vacation, no constant stress that the next car break down or ER trip could lead you into financial ruin. That lack of stress alleviates a lot of room in your brain for being happy.

Above that though, I don’t see much of a positive relationship between income and happiness.
