What Are The Best Communal Living Places For Young Families

Hi,
I have an early retirement at 31. Instead of getting a place way out the country (which could be nice but we aren't loners) we are looking for a commune kind of place. We are pretty open and laid back. Nothing offends us. We have two kids and a cat. Any thoughts or ideas would be awesome! Thank you!
