I recently stumbled on the 60s psych band Vanilla Fudge. Check out this wild interpretation of Beethoven Für Elise and Piano Sonata 14. It got me thinking, how many other bands did rock remakes of classical pieces? If you've got any suggestions, post em here!
This may not fit what you want. I don't know what type of music category it would fall into. Also not a band. Music starts around 2:20. This guy is fantastic.
Nice! That's definitely a rocked up version of classical piano. Any idea what piece(s) he's playing? I recognize Debussy's Claire de Lune in the beginning but I don't know the rest.
He is asked and answered sometime after the performance. It was not something I knew. I was born 1950 and studied classical piano, along with liking the music of the times (60's and 70's), but I am just not coming up with songs of the time using classical influences. Will post some if I think of them.
Glad Tyrsonswood came by this thread. Truth be told, I was more likely to listen to folk music and people like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, James Taylor, Judy Collins or Joan Baez.
