Recently I woke up and noticed that part of my hearing has decreased. I think it's in my left ear, but really everything just sounds muffled in both ears.

I made an appointment to see my doctor, but it's not until the 26th of June.

So, is there anything I can do now?

With a bit of luck it could just be that your ears need cleaning with a syringe. This happened to me once.Very simple procedure.

Happens to me a lot too actually... Is it just flat or do you get sound every once in a while, fluttering or anything? Seems like a long wait for a GP appt.

It was a long time ago.I was singing and playing in a band and couldn't sing properly because I couldn't hear myself.I live in the UK and it doesn't take long to get a GP appointment. My ears were blocked with wax.It took a couple of minutes with the syringe to unblock them. It's certainly worth getting them looked at if you think you have this problem.Fluttering is certainly a a sign.

its probably ear wax build up. They'll clean them at your appt. but in the meantime you can buy drops to soften the wax. The drops usually come with a bulb syringe to rinse with afterwards.

Oh and if your hearing gets really bad go to a CVS minute clinic and they'll clean them.

    it's probably earwigs.

nah, i don't know. just noticed some awfully confident diagnoses based on very little information. my only experience in this area is swimmer's ear, and it is probably not that if it didn't happen near water.

    Oh I know. ;)
67 stitches have been through my eyes and my ears are filled with several screeching frequencies bought on my tinnitus.
It's not that I don't take the subject seriously, it's just there's people out there worse off.

Well, the hearing loss was on my left ear only. But, the thing is that my right ear already has irreparable damage due to ear infections, and getting tubes put in and taken out. So, I have to wear a deattachable hearing aid on that ear. But, I hardly wear it because I don't know... I can't be bothered? Point is, I really depend on my left ear, so when I lost hearing on that ear I was basically deaf.

    ANYWAYS...

... I wanted to do Melia's suggestion and go to CVS, but I never got around to it. So, what I decided to do was search for home remedies. There were a few, but I decided on using saline solution because I have some store bought some to clean out my piercings. Anyways, I use that and nothing happened. Then today... it just popped. OMGosh, it felt so good. I swear it felt like reaching an orgasm. I jumped for joy while screaming, and that was that... now I can hear how I originally was able to hear before.

    HOWEVER...

... I'm still going to the appointment to flush these mother heifers out.

Also, screw Q-tips in the shower. From now on I'm going to put saline solution in them once a week or month, depending. I know you can also you castor oil, tea tree oil, or hydrogen peroxide, but that stuff usually burns my ears and make them itch like crazy.

    Well, that is all.
    Phone is about to die.
    Thank you again to everyone.

protecting your ears from sound would be a start. remove the headphones if you use them- they are the worst for hearing. . telephones up to your ears are just as bad as headphones. get those spongy inserts -u can find them at walmart in the tool section use them when around loud noise, plug your ears up when near trains or heavy traffic, or the front seats at rock concerts.

    I spoke too soon.

The other day my ear popped again. And now, I'm back to being deaf.

I have had nothing but trouble with home solutions. Go to a walk in clinic.

I've noticed I lose more hair in autumn, but then it gets back to normal, still I sometimes do burdock oil masks for my hair, it seems like they help...
