What About Mixed Economies?

    Finland has nationalized its oil industry, and the profits from said industry are given back in the form of social welfare.
    That's what is meant by 'means of production'.

    There is no 'screwing the people' going on here, and the poor don't rely on handouts from the rich.
    The Scandinavian mindset is what has made this possible... they simply don't have the same disgust for the poor/weak/different/powerless that many Americans have.

    The right has also recently taken it to an extreme, nurturing a culture of entitlement by equating all wealth with 'hard work' (and when people questioned that, they called it 'smart work'... and finally just suggested that rich people are naturally superior to poor people), taxes with theft, social programs with parasitism, etc. They have encouraged people to be so selfish and so hateful that it's probably impossible to reverse their programming at this point... and the poor just accept their status because they feel it's what they deserve.
